.......no Blade should get carried away with the thought that these players will be good enough in the Championship.

Spot on.
I have said before I can't think of one who definitely would be good enough, just loads of question marks and not good enoughs.
But all that matters at the moment is we get out of this division.

I still fully expect us to go up. , and go up as champions .
What I won't do is belittle " tinpot teams " and tinpot grounds and tinpot supporters,
Every single team and their support deserve our respect , except the pigs .
I hope this is the kick up our collective arses and I hope all the fans , and team get it .
We have no divine right to just turn up and win , we have to deserve to win , and beat teams .
Lets hope this blip will be put into perspective, and let's get professional and win every fucking game
through hard work and being professional in our approach .
UTB .

yeah just a bad day at the office but scunny apart weve got away with it today however we shouldnt be losing 4 goals to walsall and i hope chrissy sees that we definetly need another striker in to kill teams off when were on top could be a big week now for tufty

United cannot ever do things by halves can they ?
Remember the 5-0 drubbing at West Ham the year we went up with Dave Bassett
The Watford hammering the year we went up with Warnock

Sharp has hit the post twice today, we've had fifteen attempts at goal and more of the possession but still got hammered, we absolutely battered them at Bramall Lane and still didn't get the rub of the green.
They are just a team we hardly ever get a good result against,
I believe in bogey teams, some others think different players and different managers negates the term bogey team. But I believe that sometimes there are teams that you just can't beat for some reason

Let's forget it and move on

I agree we shouldn't be losing by 4 goals , we will not win every game ,
Every team loses , we can all except it ,
next week is the test and how Chris addresses that match and the team .
I would be disappointed if there isn't a response next week .

It certainly should get rid of any complacency, I think a few people were looking at the February games as the deciders and had already marked these three January games down as good as won already.

Every game from now to May is a huge game and should be treated as such.

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, no blade should get carried away rabbiting on about promotion

On to the next game and an opportunity to put ourselves back on track.
You are spot on Blade..... All i read is what players are good enough to go up when we get promoted. Shall we get promoted first ?

A bad day and result but that is all.... Heard a lad on Radio Pig earlier called Steven, moaning and whinging that we are not good enough, play poor football, even praising the pigs for how they have ' kicked on'
FFS lets get a grip and move on .....................

Don't think he was a Blade mate , and later on neither did the presenter .

Have to respect Walsall (at least until I read the View From). They deserved the result, we didn't play great and they played to their strengths. I'll add that the Walsall fans I met before and after were ok too, and they were entitled to a bit of gloating during the match (but, from where I was stood, nothing terribly spiteful). Bar and food facilities were crap though, made our Kop look sophisticated.

Fair play to them, but I'm still confident. The other results, bar one, could not have gone better for us. (I mused to myself as I sailed past Junction 3 of the M6)

I agree with you to a point ....... but I don't agree that we should forget it tbh.

We shouldn't forget it, we should use it as a valuable lesson that were not as good as some very enthusiastic people think we are and were CERTAINLY NOT making the most of our possession of the ball.

The only positive to come from this ( other than the wake up and smell the coffee jolt to the players regarding complacency ) is that its happened in the transfer window and therefore hopefully Tufty can use this as leverage to increase the chances of getting the financial backing needed from the Board for the three or so extra (quality) players that we need to bring in to increase our chances of staying in the top six.

This 'kick up the arse' stuff implies that this result came out of the blue - it didn't. Probably since Chesterfield we've not been firing on all cylinders, with the second half of the Swindon game being the only time we truly dominated the opposition. But even that game (as well as the Oldham and Northampton games) saw Moore make superb saves with all these games at 0-0. At Southend, their goals were soft - same as yesterday.

Thank God we've got a couple of 'easier' games at home next up (although don't underestimate Fleetwood). We need to get it sorted, bring in another striker and stop with Done at the back (a truly Adkins-esque move) before the Scunny ad Bolton games.

Rubbish. For the first time in the last 10 years we've got a team and manager that is capable of promotion. I am 100% confident of that and will continue to "rabbit on" about it. It helps that I'm not from Sheffield and don't see the glass half-empty all the time. But you enjoy looking at your glass the way you see it pal. I'm seeing it half-full, most definitely. And if I'm wrong, I'm not superstitious enough to think that by having this view it's in some way jinxed us.

sometimes its good to be kicked up the arse, this could be a blessing in disguise
and this is even more rubbish. It's never good to be kicked up the arse actually. It's far better to avoid that altogether and learn as we go along, without the arse-kicking being necessary. As for "blessings in disguise" I don't believe in them. Blessings are very obvious things in my experience - they don't come in disguise.

Let's stop trying to make something good out of something bad. The defeat at Walsall was bloody awful. No other word for it. It wasn't a "blessing" it was a pasting. Wilder isn't stupid and he didn't need that to happen for him to know what he needs to do. I will trust him to sort it without the need to recourse to that game to find learnings from it.

If you think that, at the end of the season, Wilder will look back on this game and go..."Thank God we got a good pasting at Walsall or we might never have known X and we wouldn't have got promoted" then I think you're wrong - but that is effectively what you are saying.

Sorry but I have to disagree.

The likes of O'Connell, Moore, Fleck, Duffy - were Championship quality on Friday so one collective bad game doesn't suddenly raise question marks. Especially as in the main they're young players.

They didn't suddenly get bad overnight, and I'd prefer to view the c20 games where they've been excellent as the 'norm' rather than one game.
