I think we're maybe one light on the right side of defence but what a fantastic window, we've got a couple of quality players for every position, a couple of multi-position/ utility types, kept a core group and had a defined strategy of "something to prove"

Going to have to stick up on Panadol because there'll be a selection headache every week.

I reckon it's like this cover wise

Henderson/Verrips/Moore

Baldock/Freeman

Bash/Jags

Egan/Jags/Stears

JOC/Bryan/Stevens

Stevens/Osborn

Norwood/Morrison/Besic

Fleck/Osborn/Lundstram/Besic

Freeman/ Osborn/ McG/ Morrison

Bill/McG/Moose/Robinson/McBurnie

Compared to my expectation at the start of the window we’ve done everything we can to give ourselves a fighting chance.

The squad has got significantly younger and more athletic as well as technically proficient. We’ve also kept the spine of the squad in tact.

Hendo
Championships best defence
Norwood and fleck
Sharp and mcgoldrick

So hopefully that keeps the team spirit there.

It’s now up to the new signings to win a shirt. And of the 10 signings you’d hope at least 5 cement a first team place and become upgrades. And if that’s the case the long term future of the side looks to be in good shape

I'm very happy with what we've managed to do, and with the money spent. At the same time I'm aware that many of our signings are reliant on them 'stepping up' from the championship to the prem. Naturally, some will be more capable of making that step than others, and this will be a huge part of whether we can stay up or not. However, I trust the management team to make it work. Its going to be incredibly interesting to see how the individuals and the group develop in the weeks and months to come.

Really don’t want to be that guy, and overall I’m happy with our signings and I’m hugely looking forward to the season and excited to see us in action in the PL ....but

Just a little concerned that we are acquiring other PL sides (like Everton or Bournemouth) cast offs. If they aren’t good enough for our peers, will they be good enough for us?
We shall see.

It would have been nice to have one more in and maybe get a few more out but one of our better transfer windows.

Every player we’ve brought in has a risk factor like injuries, attitude, unproven and stepping up to PL.
But CWAK sees something in them and hopefully will continue the magic.
Credit to the owners to back him beyond my expectations.
Tbh I thought the media predictions of doom and doom might have some legs if CWAK only had £10-20m but the £40-50m they’ve afforded him coupled with our management team and support make me think we will survive the first season.
We are under no pressure, everyone’s written us off and that makes us dangerous.

Depends why they're surplus, if they're behind 2 or 3 £30/40m players then I don't see the issue, and I feel that's the case with the Prem players we've bought.

Anyway, we've not done bad with cast offs before. We're Wombling free, making good use of the things that we find, stuff that the Premier League folks leave behind.

I appreciate the thinking. But does this imply only Freeman L. as a starter, from all the new signings?

I'd love to think this would be enough, but ......... hmmmmmmmmmm

Think it's fair to say from our window that up top will be the main area for new players to start, there was no particular order, other than order I remembered them haha..

Think one of our new strikers, Robinson I imagine, will start with Sharp, Freeman if we play a 10 or (assuming he's fit) Besic if we play a flat 3.

Nah, sorry Laaaavely's gone

Fantastic window.

Slightly underwhelming deadline day.

I would have liked more on the right hand side.

Baldock will be happy.
Agree and fair play Ricky, I was wrong to say you’d be unhappy and critical no matter what we did. - Sorry.
Like you I do feel a little flat today, but that only because I raised my expectation to crazy levels.
Holgate and/or Chambers would have been nice though, but there’s always January.

We shall see.

Have you watched us over the last three years, at all?

JOC - sacked off by Brentford as not good enough. We’re now knocking back huge bids for him.

Fleck - free transfer from a league 1 club. Will be a mainstay in the prem.

Duffy - not good enough for Birmingham. Been outstanding for 3 years

Norwood - not good enough for Fulham. Now in championship team of the season

Mcgoldrick - came in on a trial as no one fancied him. Player of the season.

Wright released from oxford - didn’t lose for about a year.

It’s about what wilder does with them.

And also..... Most of our signings have been going up and coming players that are eager to perform at the next level. Clubs didn’t want to lose mcburnie, Robinson, Freeman, etc etc.

Yes, I raised my expectations to Chambers and possibly a Holgate/Phillips.

Yet until a few days ago I assumed Chambers was not a possibility. He was one of my top choices initially so maybe it was always a step too far to get him as well as the attacking trio (and Hendo). Reece James or Holgate was the other one. Can forget James now but Holgate is one to keep an eye on for January. So is Chambers.

I agree, however after giving it some thought - premier league full-backs are notoriously expensive right now.

To improve on baldock we would need to spend circa 15m?

Probably why we’ve prioritised attackers instead, which, if they score enough goals - will keep us up!

I never thought I'd see a transfer window as good as this. Getting promoted was incredible but it's only really just hit home how much we've stepped everything up across every area of the club. Ridiculously excited for this season no matter what happens come what May.

Well we have definitely signed players to fit in with a full squad of 25!!

We have plenty of options now. I just hope that squad cohesion is maintained. Which will be difficult of course.

We can't complain about anything with this window though tbh. Wilder has been backed and we have given ourselves a good opportunity to have a positive first half of the season.

Thanks to the board and Wilder and management for there hard work!!

Spent way more than I ever thought we would, I was tipping around £25m tops.

I don’t think we could have asked for much more from the board. Doesn’t mean we will stop up of course as this League is still a big challenge but considering the pond we have had to fish in i don’t think we could have wished for more really,

I think we’ve done as well as we could do. The jump in prices has hampered us more than we probably expected and it’s difficult to attract good players to a newly promoted team.

Shame about Duffy going but nothing’s ever perfect.

Today has just pissed me off to be honest, was a lot happier yesterday.

Duffy departing was a real hammer blow even though it was half expected.

And was there any real need to sign Besic and Verrips? Seems like we're over-egging the pudding just for the sake of it. Strangely, both very Warnockesque signings from Wilder.

I'm not a Lunny basher but Besic is a better option in a defensive minded 3, and Verrips is a good young keeper who played every game of last season basically, rather him in the net than Moore at Old Trafford, and he'll actually push Henderson.

Duffy going is a tiny bit of piss on the chips though.

Fucking hell I’d hate to buy you a Christmas present!

‘Was there any need to get me some new socks, Karen!? - I’ve got at least 4 servicable pairs’

Besic is a defensive midfielder with PL experience and we don’t currently have one of them. And we’ve added some solid back up keeping options.

Agree it’s sad Duffy is going. But if he wants to leave what can you do?
