I'm pretty certain we'll have to make the most of him while we have him. If we get relegated, we have no chance of keeping him for a number of reasons IMO. Even if Chelsea were up to letting him go, I highly doubt we'd be willing or able to stump up the money. And if we did, he's done well enough to draw interest from other sides who will have Premier League prospects next year. If we stay in the Premier League, there's a slightly better chance. He's very highly rated at Chelsea and fans are keen to have him back. Of course Tuchel may have other ideas, but I think even if he decides against it, we'd be looking at £15-20 million for him. Would we pay that?

Money no object, I'd have him next year in a heartbeat. In addition to be superb cover across a number of positions, he'd be our long-term answer at RCB.
yeah i dont think weve any chance of getting him there will be interest from lower end prem teams and the 3 promoted teams imo

For the amount of money he'd probably cost he's not for me. I just can't forget some of the awful, half hearted challenges he's put in and goals he's cost us. Admittedly he's picked up recently but he needed to and his lack of a natural position also counts against him...how much does a championship side pay for a versatile cover player?

Hes absolutely no chance of playing for Chelsea and fter one more loan to a lower level premier league team I wouldn't be surprised to see his career have the same kind of trajectory as Jamal Blackman

It takes time to gel with a team. Wouldn't count his early games against him. It's how he performs for the remainder of the season which will be key.

I think he's premier league quality tbh.

He’s a young kid , playing for a team that loses most weeks , playing in empty stadiums, if we were there ( don’t think it will be the same as before when ever we do return ) he would get more enthusiasm from the crowd , I think he’s a good player, I don’t think he will end up here but he’s better than one player we have spent millions on !

With how shallow our squad currently is, spunking c£20m on one player would be bonkers.

We need 5 or 6 players (at least) so Tufty needs to be smart with the budget

Am I the only one who always hears his name to the tune of Eddie Grant's 'Electric Avenue'?
Xanadu
A player where nobody dared to go
The love that we came to know
They call him Ampadu
(he takes your breath and it'll leave you blind)
And now, open your eyes and see
What we have made is real
We have Ampadu
(A dream of him we offer you)
A million lights are dancing and there you are, a shooting star
An everlasting world and you're here with me, eternally
Ampadu, Ampadu
(Now we are here)
with Ampadu (Ampadu)
Ampadu, Ampadu
(Now we are here)
with Ampadu
Ampadu, your neon lights will shine for you, Ampadu
The love, the echoes of long ago
You needed the world to know.
They are in Ampadu
(With every breath you drift away)
The dream that came through a million years
That lived on through all the tears
It came to Ampadu
(The dream you dream, well, it will happen for…

Pleased he's turned it around recently, and looking accomplished at our LCB position, even when ypu really need to be left footed to play there.

Based on recent performances, he'd be the most natural successor to Basham we've seen.

Chances of signing are slim to none, regardless of whether we go down or not. He'd cost too much, and probably would have other option

He can actually use his left foot and looks a lot more assured than any of the other players we've tried there this season (Stevens, Robinson and Bryan have all been varying levels of disaster). He didn't look great for the first half of the season but lately he's found a settled position which is always helpful for any player.

Still nowhere near O'Connell, but I don't think there's many (if any) players in the entire world who would be, in that role.

Five genuine questions regarding Ampadu as I'm interested in the opinion of others, especially as he seems to have settled into a very decent player of late.
Providing JOC returns fit, is not sold and is prepared to play in the Championship for a promotion push:-

1) How much would Chelsea be wanting for Ampadu on a permanent fee, as I can't see them ever holding onto him to eventually break into their 1st team squad?
2) Would we as fans want him, possibly as good cover for numerous positions, or to play possibly further up the field?
3) Would CW want to have him as a permanent signing providing it fits within our budget?
4) Would he want to stay knowing he will get game time, yet accepting our restricted wage structure.
5) If not on a permanent deal, would you be happy to have him on loan and taking up one very valuable loan spot at a time we really need to address our attacking midfield problems?
We have 5 loan spots next season if we’re relegated so loan to buy it promoted makes sense if he wants to play Championship football. If we’re not relegated we can afford his likely fee.
Either way I’d love for him to be a major part in the next chapter of our clubs journey, replacing those that got us here with younger, better, more technically adapt players. Particularly while we still have the old guard to instill the other elements of their game, which got them to this level.

Bob if JOC comes back fully fit he won't get in the first team. The back 3 of Basham, Egan and JOC is set in stone. Admittedly we don't know how many seasons Bash has got left but he's been one of, if not the, best performers in our team this season and he's more than good enough for the championship next year.

So where does he fit in ? Maybe holding midfield but if Norwood is still around and Lunny stays there's not much need there. Chelsea won't send him to a championship team if he's not guaranteed a game and we don't want to be paying big wages for a cover player.

I just don't see him being here next season.

He can replace Bash, cover Egan, cover JoC.
Lunny ain’t staying, he could pay defensive midfield. He’ll get plenty of games and we can’t look to play back to the Premier League with Bash as first choice.
The championship is a 46 game season so it’s a long slog.

He's probably a luxury player that we can't afford next season with a view to bringing his potential on. Instead, use the money we have on bringing in established decent solid championship players who will do it for us week in week out. Together with the lads we already have who will find it a lot easier next season and sprinkle in the best of the youngsters and I think we will be knockin on the door for promotion again.

CW has to get it right this summer though. Make up for this seasons shit show.
