Collo did fairly well today.Particularly touching moment when he praised Long after he bravely came for a cross.
Very different from the expletives delivered at Gillingham.
there was a point in the second half when we had a throw in near the corner flag at our end, think Harris was taking it, and no fucker would come anywhere near to receive it. Collins was going mental calling for someone to come back and support. He did OK today and showed more passion than most of them out there.

Second half we were decent and did deserve to win it. But once again, undone by a poor first half - conceding goals too easy and a keeper who made the wrong decision at crucial time. If we dont sort out the keeper and defence, nothing will change. Baxter man of the match by a mile.

  • JCR also had a good one, getting his crosses into the box a lot in the second half, ran his socks

  • another piss poor referee, Sharp was getting fouled constantly and the ref did nothing
  • really hope James Wallace can get fully fit, saw a few glimpses of what he can bring to the party when he came on

I thought that JCR had plenty of the ball but once again his crossing was not good enough. Stepovers aside, I really struggle to see what he adds. His end product in not nearly good enough.I accept he is faster than Flynn or Woolford and can beat a man, so that probably helps him keep the shirt.but he is part of the problem, not the solution.

Glimpses of Wallace? Enjoy that then and savour the memories. He is made of chocolate and unfortunately will play no serious role this season. However good he was 3 years ago, you cannot rely on someone with his injury record.

Agree about the ref though and the laughable 'advantage' he played in the second half was a joke. Sadly. shit refs are another feature of this poxy league.

Says it all that some are masturbating furiously because we got apoint against Southend. It's going to be a long fucking winter mark my words.
Just elaborate a little for me could you please. We've all been saying all season that the performances have to improve and that we need to move the ball quicker. Why then, on the occasion that this happens for half a game, is it a wank fest because some people dare to mention it and hope that it might just be a sign of some of that improvement? Some might be clutching at straws in the hope that things might turn around but it's almost as if you don't want it to and would prefer us to continue as we are.

Second half they played quite well and it showed a bit of character to come back from 2 down in the first half - at 0-2 I thought it could get very ugly before the game was out. I was at the Lane end and as well as the 3 shots that hit the post, they had plenty of other opportunities to score - can't help thinking a big centre forward would have successfully connected with a couple of them.

On reflection I think we probably deserved to win but fuck me, Southend, we should be rolling teams over like that if we had serious ambitions for promotion. Said it before and I'll say it again, if we had a decent defence today is a 2-0 win. Sort defence first or we'll get nowhere.

What's this "they played quite well"? Have you given up on being in this together?;)

Look at the league table. Southend are one point behind us so why exactly should we be "rolling over teams like that"

I agree to some extent about the defence but I do feel that most of the back fours' problems stem from a lack of pressing/closing down by the midfield. We need to defend better as a team

Second half performance was very good, exciting to watch and they struggled to contain us. We hit the post 3 times ffs and Billy almost broke his recent dry spell. It could have been so different.

That being said, if they had nicked it when they broke on us 3 on 2 towards the end it would have been full on meltdown on here.

Daft as it sounds, we would have been better going in 0-2 down at half time, hearing the boos then coming out with that second half performance and scoring the 2 goals. It would have felt more like a point gained and like we had turned a corner, maybe?

As it stands we scrambled it back to 2-2 with 2 scrappy goals, still had the boos at half time and then despite a good 45 minutes came away frustrated. Funny old game innit.

We played it neatly in the first 20, but so did Southend. However, we were once again sloppy at the back and a combination of errors gave them a two goal lead.

We got back into it and then the chest beating Collins took the plaudits for a great finish. It simply masks the problems we have though.

Campbell Ryce was once again awful. Taking forever to deliver a cross to a box full of marked up strikers stood waiting for the ball to hit the first man.

Coutts and Baxter had probably their best games in a while and it'd be great to see them playing together with a battler.

Hammond was dire. Predictably didn't get taken off though

No idea why Sharp was playing today, it was a game for Sammon.

Adams looked bright, excellent and a constant threat. Stayed on his feet a lot more and they couldn't handle his power and pace. He'll do well in the Championship/ Premiership for who ever he signs for in Jan.

The game was also crying out for Done as well.

Nice to see James Wallace back, but he looks rusty

The comment on Wallace was in hope not expectation. Was quite a way from the away end so didn't have a close view but I could see JCR getting the ball into the box more than he often does, but that said I share the frustration of him hanging on too long before he does, which makes it hard for strikers to time their runs.
