Alternative Sponsor

I'd be up for this, it'd need a hell of a lot of us to raise a six figure sum though.

My main concern is surely it should be Ramsden's Currency with an apostrophe?

The sponsor is actually advertising the local medium of exchange of a male sheeps makeshift abode, so it should be Ram's Den's Currency.

Fair point. I reckon £20 would be the limit for most people though, so that still means we'd need 5,000 people just to get £100,000.

It'd be great if we could do it though.
I was counting pence as well, given the club’s track record worth these things.

What you need to do if you were going to do it is do a monthly thing and then at the end go up to United and say "what can we afford guvnor"

People pledge say £10 on Patreon monthly and don't really think about it because they like that person and that's not a lot, but if you said to them that it's £120 upfront the majority might not bother.

5000 people pledging 10 quid a month, that's £600,000.

Imagine if we did that though and the club released a PROPER shocking kit, not this 'slightly disappointing with one or two more serious concerns' one.

I’m led to believe it’s the small end of 100k

It’s not likely to happen, however, I am up for toe dipping and seeing what the outcome could be. It would be the hipsterist of hipster moves if the club ever went for summat like this. All for it.

Well up for it too mate, I'd happily pay for us to have no sponsor on the shirt.

The concept of pies.

Not one make, just all pies.

I'd honestly look into a patreon or something, if you could get a subscription based thing and have all the money going into some kind of account with good interest monthly I reckon you've a chance of getting at least enough to outbid doordeals haha

The club have it in their power to organise a fans sponsorship. Just add a £20 sponsor surcharge onto the cost of each season ticket. 20k x £20 = £400k. Thats probably not far off the total Ramsdens and Door Deals are jointly paying.

I'm sure after this abomination most season ticket holders would be delighted to give an extra £20 to see the team playing in shirts sponsored by them. Mind you thats provided we can make sure the shirt has stripes on the back, front and sleeves.

If the club want to pass it onto the cost of a season ticket then I'd happily pay £100, it'd only be about a tenner a month.

There should be a section on the official app or the official site to raise things like this as it's hard to get to decent numbers since not everyone has social media or goes on the internet to places like this.

You think it's realistic to expect more people than actually buy replica shirts to agree to pay towards raising enough money to replace commercial partners/sponsors so that they don't appear on that shirt.... Ignoring the fact that you don't know how much those sponsors actually pay?

That’s the sticicking point. And it’ll be much more expensive int top flight in 2020 ;)

Sorry if I touched a raw nerve. There was no intention on my part to denegrate the good work Door Deals have done in sponsoring the Blades. I was responding to suggestions to raise money for fans to sponsor the Blades shirt as an alternative to the usual crowd funding options. If Blades fans raise enough money then why not a fans designed and sponsored shirt that they are more likely to buy into generating better sales.

Lets be honest there is a lot of angst directed against the version brought out today that is likely to have a financial impact.

Your right I don't know how much the current sponsors pay but I do know what it cost to sponsor the back of the shirt a few years ago because the sponsor told me. I also worked for a company that sponsored the shorts and know its possible to change the colour of your logo to blend in with the current strip because thats what they did on my advice.

Not in the slightest, so hope it didn't come across that way :)

Just have serious doubts that when less than 20k shirts are sold, that 20k people would commit money to the sufficient level to replace sponsors with no benefit other than removing two logos.

It absolutely is and yet despite changing it on at least the keeper kits, they appear to have chosen not to on the home, unless whoever photoshopped dropped one :)

To an extent I agree as we wouldn't need this if we got to the premiership. I think its more about fans having some involvement in the design of the shirt rather than removing sponsor logos provided they fit into an agreed colour scheme and blend into the shirt. We have plenty of expert shirt designers on s24su that could contribute. :)

Can't you already buy the shirts straight from addidas without any logos on and just get a blades badge sown on?
