Incoming? Altay Bayindir

Have you considered the opportunity cost of not taking Henderson on loan again next season (if he's available) and having to invest a sizeable proportion of the budget in another GK? That may well impact CW's ability to afford a top quality striker - the position I'd say was the top priority.

He ain't coming on loan for free, indeed the loan fee is likely to increase significantly from the current season (rumoured £4m) and a pretty chunky salary on top. A fee of say £8m for this guy and considerably less in wages may be cheaper.

Would you prefer the cheapest option or the best option?

Have you seen Bayindir play often? With Spurs and Ajax also rumoured to be interested and him being contracted until 2023, I very much doubt he'd be available for £8m.

I can also assure you that Utd are paying nowhere near that amount for Henderson.

We would be negligent not looking at other options even if we think there's a decent chance of DH returning

I think the landscape for us (& teams like us) has changed considerably now following this pandemic. If we can limit our risk exposure by making short term deals we should.

Henderson on loan for another season would be ideal. Failing that, it's probably best to see if we can pick up a good ageing goalkeeper on a 1 year deal - no idea who's available but Ben Foster, Nick Butland etc types come to mind.

This is the moment that football and the inflated transfer markets bubble bursts. We'd be better off recognising this now and refraining from making any large investments this Summer. Keep cash in the bank, protect the club. When it's safe to start spending, spend. Those players that stalled on signing improved deals will be regretting it now, I can't see those terms still being on the table. Wages are going to have to fall.

I think you’re right. With Berge coming in Jan, I reckon spending would have been around £20m-£30m pre-covid.

This next window we will need to do some business with the loan players going back. We will need to replace Henderson, Retsos, Besic and Zivkovic.

I can see us getting Besic permanently on a free and Robinson may come back to replace Zivkovic if not selling Robinson would free up some funds for a forward.

I would be surprised if our net spend is over £15m this summer.

I wouldn't be against a net spend of ZERO. The future is so uncertain now and the broadcasters are going to wrestle back leverage in negotiations. I just want us to be sensible and sustainable.

Me neither but unfortunately I only see a net spend of zero if we sell one of our more valuable players to be honest .

Is that 27 Year old Jack Butland's older brother?

I don't think we should go crazy, but spending nothing is a bit OTT.

There will be a hell of a lot of skint clubs this summer, we'd be foolish not to try and take advantage. If the TV money comes in, combined with our relatively low wage bill, I'd like to think we could spend £10m without putting the club at risk.

I think Wilder already said they can renew Retsos& Zico's loans for another year

(If there's ever football again) I'd be happy if we just spent transfer fees on Retsos and a forward like F.Coman or K.Grant.

We can comfortably get by without having to do too much.

But if there are quality bargains available, then take them.

This rumour certainly seems to have the most legs of any other. I hope not, on the basis that I'd love to keep Henderson for as long as possible.

I would agree with your sentiment of keeping 'Hendo' "for as long as possible".
I differ from you in the respect that it must be permanent, and it could well have been or could still be if Henderson indicates his desire to join SUFC on a permanent contract. He obviously doesn't believe United are trying to build a team to compete in the top ten of the Premier Lg. and play in Europe. He prefers to stay attached to the richest club in the world, who by being so, could buy any player they require at any time.
In this position he could fall between the two stools.
HE must make the decision. I'm sure CW/AK would move mountains to obtain him if he gave the say so, but it seems even they realise this situation cannot continue, or he will never join permanently and SUFC must keep going forward with or without him.
UTB, NO one player is bigger than the club.

I can't agree with the comment around Hendo not believing we're building a strong Top 10 squad as tghe reason he doesn't want to sign permanently.

The long and the short of it is he's a Man U fan, wants to be their No1 and believes he has the quality to be it.

If anything happens to change his view of that ie Man U sold De Gea but then brought in say Oblak I'm sure Deano would be happy to move on.

Yes I am second guessing, anyhow it's supposition but good to discuss, but peoples actions say much about their thoughts, that's why I said what I did.
I would say his youth and opulence blinds him to, that in life excellent opportunities are rare and they should be taken whilst there regardless of what you want or need.
I would sign him for top dollar in a flash not only for his ability but mainly because he is a round peg in a round hole at the Lane.
UTB.

Wonder what fee we’re talking?

Would’ve thought with the pay back to TV companies, loss in revenue from Covid and the money HRH needs to take out the revenue to pay McCabe, that there wouldn’t be a great deal left for big fees

Can you link me to this TV payback. I thought it was carrying on as normal with games restarting. I just keep hearing conflicting things on this.

A twitter transfer page with 500 or so followers reporting a story that has been doing the rounds for months.

Seems legit enough to me.

Fenerbahce are in a mess financially - could go one of two ways, could get a bargain as they're desperate for cash, or they could hold out for a big fee to cover more of the cash deficit they have.

If Fenerbahce are struggling financially one we could try for is Vedat Muriqi. Kosovan CF. An absolute handful of a battering ram with good ability. Some decent clubs are looking at him.

Looks like an absolute nutter.

I'm in.
