What would you say our all time average league position is from 1-92? I’d hazard a guess at around 18/19/20 if you’re talking from game to game, I’d imagine it’d be slightly different but not much in it if you just take the end of season finishing place.

what I’m basically asking is where the hell do you all get your footballing nerd stats from?

I don't think it does.
Care to explain why not?

It might be slightly out now as that was about 2 or 3 years ago so perhaps our average might have gone up a place or two, however I took our position from 1-92 from every regular season since we entered the Football League in 1892, not including any wartime league placings.

Still if you think you can do better, then knock yourself out.

There was a stat in ST that said we had been in Premier League for 5 seasons out of the 29 seasons it has been in operation.

This is the best for all things Blades...

Ah yes, a stat for those who believe that English League football was invented in 1992.
No - a stat that indicates how we have underperformed as a Club over the last 30 years.
As said previously here we were viewed as a 1st Div club up intil the 60's.? Then we have roller coasted whilst clubs like Brighton, Palace , Qpr. Southampton who were 3rd Div when I was a lad have done better.

I like to play with this stuff.

Average over the last 50 years (my Blades time) is 30th, so top half of Championship - which I've always felt was about right. The last 5 years have been a typical part of the longer ride. The second pic shows the longer ride with the manager at the end of each year.

Nice work; I have to ask though, did you airbrush Robson consciously?

Our average finishing position is mid twenties

I think the under performing has gone on for more like 45 years!

I would say we were viewed as a first division club up until 1975-6. It is only since then that we have spent most of our time outside of the first division. In fact, since then it wouldn't really be unfair to say that we have been as much a second/third division club as a first/second division club as we have spent more time in the third division (or below) than in the first division.

We’ve underperformed since the 2nd world war
before the war we spent the vast majority of our history in the top flight...incredibly we had a 38 season continuous run in the top flight.

Regards all-time league position we’re about 19th.
It’s the same with all-time average attendance...that’s about 19th best too.
If there was a new 20 team Premier based on the historically biggest clubs...we’d just sneak in.

But as I never tire of saying to Leeds fans you get no points for people through the turnstiles

Our average finishing position is mid twenties
Nope.

Up to 2019.

I want to find all these people who 'think football was invented in 1992'. Honestly.

I assume they're all off riding those unicorns I keep hearing about.

Nope.

As this is only up to 2019, have we now overtaken Middlesbrough? Making us the 17th best placed team on average finishes.

It's a shame we didn't stay up, as we'd be closing in on Wednesday even more.

Nope.

Up to 2019.

Odd way to categorise the "all time top tier" with only 13 teams.

In fairness average position of 22.4 is not far short of mid twenties
