We recruited him just a few years ago.

The U21s is already getting younger. Beattie, Francis etc already coming through. The forward from Rangers joining us too.

I suppose the thinking was that we'd plucked out a potential gem from Oldham who we thought might be capable of operating at a higher level over time, turns out that perhaps he's not quite up to the mark as a full time pro.

Alternatively, he might have a decent work or study opportunity come his way that is a more realistic option long term alongside playing non-league as a nice side earner.
