One or two people have said that we’ve been watching Alexander Sorloth...the rumour has got as far as HITC. Is there anything in it, I wonder...

He looks pretty decent...but then again, so does Daniel Sturridge

There’s been some talk about this is another thread - think it’s a non starter personally as Trabzonspor have an option to buy for €6m, and there are a number of clubs interested that will pay Trabzonspor significantly more than that.
From what i’ve heard in Turkey, Trabzonspor plan to pay the €6m, then immediately cash in for a huge profit in the summer - a large enough profit that Palace allegedly offered €12m to cancel the buyout clause which Trabzonspor rejected.

Yeah but profit would be £15-20m which I believe we will spend on a striker.

With Real Madrid supposedly interested it may be more than that.

Cannot see it for them. They need a replacement for Benzema not another player to add to their list. If they are to sign a striker I would expect a big name.

Surely Crystal Palace could offer some of that money to the player to reject personal terms with Trabzonspur. The agreement must only be for the transfer, they can’t force the player to sign. Just a thought.

No idea on the legitimacy of any of it - i was in Turkey last week and just repeating what i was told - same as what i heard about the Turkish goalkeepers we were linked with.

"The rumour has got as far as HITC" - now that has to be one of the statements of the year on here. As if reaching HITC is some kind of endorsement of truth!

You do realise that HITC and all these other related click-bait sites, are the source of such rumours, and not the reporters of them? They pay young schoolboys to stay behind after lessons, smoke dope, and imagine which players might possibly move where. Then they turn it into a story.

I honestly wouldn't believe a word that is written in those click-bait journals - whose main purpose is to get vain and desperate idiots, with a desire to be a journalist, to write for them for peanuts in the hope they may make the big time.

I have seen this guy's name mentioned before somewhere though. Maybe it was in another click-bait journal? 🤔

Must be the same for us with Panos. We may have agreed fee and it’s included in the loan contract, but if the player eventually does not want the move then surely we can’t force it.

Unless all parties, including the player, have already agreed the contract details should the option be taken up.

Watched some Premier League when he was at Palace, he's absolutely hopeless at this level

Mousset looked pretty hopeless at Bournemouth to be honest, just about getting the right player in the right team. Sorloth would do well for us I think because we put a lot of crosses into the box. He might be a bit too similar to McBurnie for Wilder to make a move though

Can’t really argue that 🤣 Sorloth & McBurnie playing off the balls that Enda & Baldock whip in could be so dangerous, & either with a quicker more mobile, quicker, striker would work well. I really like McBurnie though and think he has come on so far since the start of the season, so wouldn’t want to see him pushed out.

I can't see us signing Sorloth who surely is similar to McBurnie as the taller target man type. When you consider we've spent £20m on McBurnie I can't see us spending a similar amount again on a player of similar style, I'd have thought we'd be more likely to go for a faster more dynamic type and/or play off the shoulder.

I don’t really understand the comparisons to Mcburnie, sure they are both tall but that’s where the comparisons end for me.

Sorloth is rapid, the best well known comparison I can think of is he is like a left footed BTEC version of Cristiano Ronaldo. I think he would be a very good signing and add something a bit different to what we already have. He would cost a lot though to get him out of Palace.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, very high chance he’ll be signing for Trabzonspor permanently in the summer window.

Sorloth is having a great season on loan in Turkey. 25 goals in all comps. 19 in 26 in the league.

People writing him off because of his Palace days. He started 4 games, FOUR!

Wouldn't be surprised if the loan deal is a Loan-to-buy option in which case why would top of the league, champions League bound Trasbzonspor decide not to buy their top scorer?

They have an option to buy so I think Sorloth could reject their contract. Would he reject them over us? Maybe if we are in the CL.

They could also buy him then sell him immediately to turn a profit.

Just shows how much a player can improve with service.

Here's all his goals this season

Either he hits the ball really well or the goalkeepers in Turkey are still on FIFA 2009 - how many go through the keepers?!

Based on that compilation, when a player has confidence, feels trusted by his manager etc etc then the result is Sorloth. He looks good in that clip, no lack of ability, but my first thought was this could be a £40 million footballer.
