Revell has rejected a move to the Blades and joined Northampton on a 2 year deal.

Anyone bothered? Not me, a 32 year old striker is not a priority for us.

If true, I would like to know the reasons why someone chooses Northampton over us as a genuine question. Wages? Etc

Being discussed on the Alex Revell Thread on the Rumours section...

Possibly he made his start in football in Cambridge, 32 year old.. Maybe his last pay day and local to home

And didn't want to compete for a starting spot with Billy.......

Northampton is about 20 minutes away from MK, if he has bought a house down there it makes perfect sense

Footballing wise;

Option 1 - Join Northampton on a 2-year deal and start probably 75% of their games
Option 2 - Join Blades on a 1-year deal, (can't see us offering anything longer) and start Johnstone Paint and League Cup games if you are lucky.....

Wages wouldn't have been much different but guaranteed 2 years income at Northampton. I know what I would have done in his position..

Anyone else think we've had a lucky escape if in deed it's not just the star making crap up on a slow news day.

I think they just make up crap whether it's a slow news day or not. I'd rather get my news from The Dandy. To quote Eric Morecambe on the day's headline "Desperate Dan's eaten four Cow Pies and he's still hungry"

Less pressure, less expectation, better chance of promotion.

Why would someone not choose Northampton over us?

It's like choosing between the malteser and the coffee cream!

Revell wanted to play for Manager Page and we were still trying to convince him to sign as late as this morning apparently.

Exert from article:

"Alex Revell has admitted one of the main reasons he rejected the advances of Sheffield United and MK Dons to sign for the Cobblers was the opportunity to work with Rob Page.

It is understood the Dons and the Blades were very keen on signing Revell, along with other Sky Bet League One clubs, but the 32-year-old says once he knew Northampton were interested in him, he wasn’t going anywhere else.

To be honest, he didn’t need to sell the club to me but Rob Page’s drive and what he wants to do here was a big aspect of why I wanted to sign

The Chron understands that more money was offered to Revell by other clubs, and that Sheffield United were still trying to persuade him to move to south Yorkshire as late as Tuesday morning.

But Revell wasn’t interested and instead says he ‘wants to get down to business’ at Northampton with his ‘talented’ new team-mates and manager Page.

“There has been interest from other clubs, but the manager was the one of the main reasons I have signed here,” said Revell, who grew up in Cambridge.

“When I met him I got on great with him.

“To be honest, he didn’t need to sell the club to me but his drive and what he wants to do here was a big aspect of why I wanted to sign."

I hereby call bullshit on Revell's claims. :)

Cut out all the PR waffle .

Where does Revell live and his family.

Is there much travel from home

Do they have to move house.

Length of contract

Weekly wages .

Does he rate Page more than Wilder.

It does seem we were pushing to sign him , and a bit of a blow when a competitor in the same division wins the day . No pulling power of BDTBL with this bloke .

Bottom line , easier life at Northampton than at The Blades . The bloke may not be able or want to deal with a big item which follows us all over - expectations .

Take the money and easy life IMO.

UTB

1 years guaranteed wages at the lane
2.years. guaranteed wages elsewhere,
Not that bothered bout a 32 year old striker when our top scorer has a few years on him .

Roofe
Jackson Irvine
Holmes (although that sounds unlikely now)
Are my main 3 I'm looking out for.
