Seriously, Ricky Holmes would be an ambitious signing for us?
If so I think we've come to an enpass as we just have a different view of what we consider ambition for our club.
That's not a slight on Holmes or Murphy's ability just the level that we should consider ambitious rather than an expected signing for this level, when we decide to go out into the market and punch our weight.

Not sure if Nixon doesn't mean Boga, looking at it. He is very highly thought of at Chelsea and would be the pace up top we need. I know he said winger but Boga is versatile and ticks many boxes (leaving casual racism out of it )

I'm not sure our ambition, at this moment in time, could stretch much further than a Premiership player who played a decent role in a side which won promotion from our division last year. I don't know if it is or isn't Murphy by the way, but I would hazard a guess that most players who could be thus described would be classed in the 'ambitious for us' bracket.

The more I think of it the more I like the idea of Murphy coming back to us. Could easily fit within the current formation as a pacy option up front, and would give us genuine width whenever we need to switch formation to 4-4-2.

First choice signing 'is a bit ambitious' to me suggest not much chance of it going ahead. Like the coady thing which is dead and buried now.

I'd take lolley - seems quick and direct and certainly we don't have much of that in the squad atm. Sure wilder will pull something or the bag.

Ps - don't know how Murphy wouldn't be an ambitious signing. Played the majority of games as a first choice for a side that got promoted - would be well out of our league to buy outright

Yes played the full 90 against Foxes and was a sub against Man Citeh.

It doesn't matter in terms of their quality, I just wouldn't class a player from Barnsley as an ambitious target.

I took that as premiership teams might be buying some players this week meaning they could be sending some loanees our way, but what if the business in the first place is with us? Ie Burton buying someone from us? Maybe to free up some money but maybe as part of a swap deal?
