without balance of the team and creating goalscoring chances? Danny Bergara once said "If we have 11 Alex Sabellas in the team, we would lose every match!"

Oh dear, the never-ending quest for mediocrity goes on unabated.....

Danny Bergara? Well, he certainly spoke with authority when it came to losing matches.

You don't actually have to know anything much at all about football to realise that we wouldn't do very well with 11 Alex Sabellas in the team at the same time. It's got nothing to do with any quest for mediocrity. Sometimes a player may be good (or even very good), but be of no use to a particular side because including him would upset the balance of the side too much.

Look what happened when Keegan introduced Faustino Asprilla to the Newcastle side at the expense of Gillespie. Asprilla was undoubtedly a far more talented player than Gillespie, but his introduction to the side was a negative one as it upset the balance of the side too much. They lost a lot of width and I think it ultimately cost Newcastle the premier league title.

Not coming according to the dullard Clough sent up to do the post match interview. He said that another club had come in for him and he was going there, so that kind of backs up that rumour I guess.

We could put him in an oversized shirt and sit him on Baxters' shoulders then we would have that 6 foot midfielder we are badly in need of.

I would suggest that we'd struggle with 11 Alex Sabellas in the side primarily because he's 59 now.

Shocking that a player would want to sign for a club chasing the title over a club in a relegation scrap.

As good as he is, I do think we need a couple of different types of players first.

We won 3-1 today with a striker that you wouldnt have picked! You were one of the very few who wanted Weir to have more time with us. His weak Catenaccio style of football wouldnt have got us a goal today!

Not particularly bothered about Judge - but would be concerned if we did want him but were losing out to the likes of Brentford. I know they have some money behind them but so do we (apparently). And given our crowds (3 times theirs), stadium, tradition, potential etc I would hope we have stronger pulling power even if they are above us at the moment.

Having said that - I think a striker, quick central defender, dominant keeper and more pace generally are our key priorities.

In the words of a great 20th century poet, you can not be serious??
Why in the world would he want to play for a team hovering above the relegation zone than the team top of the league and odds-on for promotion? They can no doubt offer him better wages too. I can't imagine too many players caring much about how big a stadium is or how good a club used to be. Most players want to move on after a year or two anyway for another juicy signing on fee.

Unless it's about money I disagree with this. How long will a club like Brentford be on an upward curve for....really? With the greatest respect to them they are likely to flirt with the second tier for a year or two and come back down.

If Sheffield United and Brentford came in for me, present circumstances and more or less the same salary.....I would go to Sheffield United every time. Basing a move on league position is a bit short sighted to me but it may well be about money.

Players don't live on what ifs, they live in reality. Brentford will probably go up, we definitely won't and could go down. Anybody signing for a club like Brentford couldn't give a toss how many years they can sustain it for. They just want to go to a successful club, gain promotion then play in a division higher and maybe attract a bigger club. Just like nobody signing for us could give a toss where we will be in 3 or 4 years. Players careers are short, they aren't interested in a clubs potential 2 or 3 years down the line.

Plus even if they were, with the present squad we have and the lack of investment we won't get promoted in the next 10 years. Its ok saying we now have money, but do we really? Not seen any of it so far. Truth is we can only attract players who don't get better offers, and right now Brentford are a much better offer.

Brentford is definitely a club on an upward trajectory, they've got planning permission for a new 20,000 seater stadium with expansion potential and a rich benefactor. Think Hull City or Swansea; forget the fact that they've got Chelsea and QPR as neighbours as the ticket prices at Stamford Bridge and Loftus Road have alienated the locals.

They'll go up as champions this season and then be aiming for the Championship play offs next season and I'd not bet against them making it.

I don't doubt that we're in an artificially low position at the moment but as a player Brentford will be the more attractive choice right now.

Brentford are a team to watch at the minute, how many other sides lose there manager to a better club someone who has over a couple of seasons put together a nice squad then replaced him for the new guy to continue there good form and send them to the top of the table. They will piss it this year and do ok in championship.

As for Judge NC admitted we'd lost out in an interview last week.

They've got planning permission for a stadium we would sell out every week ? Big frap

Wouldn't have minded him at all. He would've been on my list for this window. Thought there might be something to be done with him, but it's still surprising they've sold him so readily.

He'll keep improving now after the leg break and would be a natural in Duffy's role, and real direct competition for him.

I think the whole point of his next move was going to be to play regularly though. And he'll certainly do that at Shitswich.

It's a shame what's happened to him because right before his injury he was in line for a big PL move.

On your list for this window, eh?

First response to that tweet...'quality player, would love him at Hillsborough'

I am sure you would my porcine fellow, such a shame thou doth not posses a pot within which to urinate.

As for Ipswich, Lambert is doing some good business in this window;restoring some well needed championship experience to that side. They might just stay up you know.

Sorry love, I'll correct it for you:

He would have been one of the players I would have liked us to look at in this, the January transfer window, as I feel he is a football player who would have added something to our squad of football players.

That reads better doesn't it.

I hope Ipswich, Rotherham, Millwall, Wigan, Reading, Bolton and every other fucker down there recruits very well and brings them daft deluded twats deep, deep into the relegation mix.

I hadn’t realised the Brentford cap-doffing started five long years ago. They must have won the Champions League by now.

Remarkable.
