Ok we are 5th in league one .. That's modern day toss for division 3. So we have a chance of going into the play offs again. Some may be happy with that on its own and say we have come a long way and throw in the good old cup run story .
Well for me anything less than promotion is a total failure and to a certain extent this may be regarded as a bit early .. We still might do it some will say .
But in my opinion playing the way we are and other than the odd game or 20 mins of a game ... The way we have all season .. I can't see it .
And so to the question .. Giving your answer as 50/50 or 60/40 or whatever (clough first players second) who is more to blame for this utter garbage we are served continuously . And please don't give me that we've been on a good run stuff ... If you know your football and have been you will know we have been very very lucky in a lot of games to get points while playing badly.

Couldn't agree more. Home and away we have enjoyed the rub of the green and the points tally till late has hidden the quality of our underlying play.

Difficult to say who's most at fault in this type of scenario. Of course the manager is the one who usually falls on his sword but the players themselves obviously can't be blameless.

I think NC and his team have brought in some average, small people. One or two with potential yes, but they aren't there yet.

I think there is a real lack of consistency from one week to the next. We can raise the level of our play to play Bristol off the park then we are struggling to beat the likes of Coventry and Crawley, both of them relegation fodder.

I think that there is an acute lack of ownership from some on the pitch.

I think we have a few 'super stars' who need to take a long hard look at themselves.

All in all I reckon I'd go for 40/60.

The buck stops with Clough , his team , his tactics , his squad , his ideas / ethos . 100% management and staff.

Still 13 teams to go , but why are we were we are , simple , its due to the cup run catching up on us , lack of confidence at home , individual errors , players not playing to instructions , suspensions , injuries to a number of key players ( Higdon , Wallace etc ) . Sheer utter bollocks.

mainly Clough but it's noticeable that the players are significantly better when they're on TV.

So we have supporters who wanted Clough out and a car park demo before today's game (although I suspect Harry will have more followers after that display) AKA 'The Slashers' and at the other end of the spectrum, the 'In Nigel We Trust' brigade - 'The Clappers'. As ever, the truth is somewhere in between. To get to the bottom of any problem, it's important to recognise the symptoms. Here goes.

Today was not an aberration, a one-off, a blip. It was the kind of result that could - Preston in the League apart - have come at any home game this season.

Let's forget the Cup games. That's not to deny they have been thrilling and provided much-needed cash and 'uplift' among the club and it's followers. But games like today are the 'bread and butter', the kind of games which will determine our immediate future. Harking back to the Cup games is like looking back on an ex-bird. 'Oh we had some great times. But mostly it was fucking rubbish.'

I do not want Clough to go, simply because the gene pool of half-decent managers is so shallow we'd almost certainly get a worse manager than Clough. The sheer volume of his signings, with attendant contracts, pay-offs etc. will affect us for years. Think Ed Balls let loose in the Treasury. We're stuck with what we've got.

However, do not think Clough will change. He's been a manager for nearly 20 years. All he's inherited from his old man is an unshakeable belief in his own abilities and a 'my way or highway' attitude to the players. In other words, Brian. Without the success.

The time we can truly take stock of NCs tenure will be in July. That's when the fixtures for 2015/16 come out and, if they include Fleetwood, Rochdale, Oldham etc., he's failed in what he was employed - at great expense - to do.

You've just stumbled on to the ladyboys game plan for getting to the prem, a big scoreboard screen to watch 'em on the TV.

grafikhaus , spot on . I don't want him to go . only for the reason , there is no one out there . If we do not get promotion , i can see us stuck in this league for years to come .

The formula to get out , seems to be to employ a bloody good league 1 manager with promotion on his CV . At least a new man next season may well gel , motivate and get the best out of the bunch of players who should be doing better , and the crux , can do better.

This paragraph is the one I agree with you

You lot say all that but Clough has been tactically outwitted by some extremely inexperienced but passionate up and coming managers like: Karl Robinson; Lee Johnson and Graham Alexander. He was also done by Peterborough's caretaker so actually I think we could do an awful lot better...
