Again, Lafferty's left foot

JOC can certainly get forward and can put a cross in, plus he has the muscle to stay on the ball and not get knocked off.

My biggest concern is that when he is high up the field, if the opposition counter and break, we are exposed at the back.
yeah true. but then again, i trust big jake wright at the back to tell him whether or not going up would be a good decision. i trust the players to do the right thing, after all they have given us happiness again

Last week I posted about Lafferty's left foot being wank. But because we won, people assumed that it meant that I couldn't point it out. Well, we didn't win and guess what? His left foot is still wank.

I reckon Wilder plays him for a number of reasons:

1. Experience
2. Influence
3. Reliability
4. Because he signed him on a 2.5 year contract.

No he is not a good wing back but we will never need 11 Messi' s on the pitch, nor do Barcelona.

i wish we had just 1 messi ;)

For me Lafferty is a really good defender but he's not the best going forward. With how attacking we are its good to have a solid left wing back

It's not just Lafferty who lets himself down with crossing, the majority of the team do, we are excellent put that final ball let's us down far too often, and can anyone remember when we last scored from a corner, we have around 10 a game but can't seem to score from them.

Carruthers is better than Matic,
Whiteman is better than Fernandinho,
And Reed is better than Messi.

Aye, aye,aye,aye.
Just give it three years.

you really do need to face reality, how can everyone pretend that our team is perfect? it's not perfect, and just like everyone else on the forum, they are voicing their opinions on wilder's substitution decisions for example. wilder has done absolute miracles for us, i trust wilder, im not commenting on that guy's post and saying "you are a sad person for believing that wilder's decision wasn't good enough for us" when in reality - he probably made a mistake. if im sad for voicing my own opinion on a professional football player's left foot which i deem to not be good, then what does this make you for slating me for voicing my opinion on a forum?
I understand that this is a platform for people to voice their opinions but the bottom line is your 'opinion' is counter productive. You posted last week on the subject and your still pursuing it as if your desperate to be right. Noone is pretending anything. I look at the league table and there is no need to pretend. Every team and player has their weeknesses but why keep highlighting and pursuing the persecution of one player? Its clear that your not just voicing your opinion, your desperate to be proved right so your latching on to a small minute detail. That my friend is very sad.

Plain and simple he is not good enough, now and again he puts in a half decent shift but overall he is not up to standard unfortunately, and certainly not good enough for a step up to the championship. If he was not so athletic, motoring down the wing etc etc and had to rely solely on his technical ability he would not even be playing pro football never mind playing for us. The only weak link in our side imo.

I will admit to being deluded then. But then hes not our only shit player is he TD ,basham ,Coutts ,EEL ,Done ,Clarke ,Oconnell ,we are a pretty shit outfit aren't we .

Well given that I've never actually criticised Paul Coutts' abilities, I only slated EEL in the immediate aftermath of a game he cost us and I've only ever defended Matt Done, you might want to revise that list.

Actually fuck it, they're all graaaaate.

I think whatsoever has done with this raggedy bunch of misfits is amazing
This squad and everyone in it have many obvious deficiencies but they also have strengths and wilder seems able to bring out the best in a squad

Think we've got a real talent there and i think he will get better with experience.

It's a real shame that Hussey hasn't been able to step up, as his delivery is pretty good......

I thought Lafferty did well yesterday but he's rarely going to stand out in this team because he is roughly playing at his level but he rarely lets us down either. I agree that Hussey has a great delivery and would have done well in the wing back role. Our fans forget that he has only played left back for us and wing back would suit him much more.

This thread reminds me of the Peter Cook/Dudley Moore classic 'one legged man auditions for Tarzan sketch'.
"Your left leg I like, it's perfect for the role. I've got nothing against your left leg. Unfortunately, neither have you."
I'll get my coat.

'that cunt from Wolves' classy.

Yet again any totally reasonable criticism of a player is jumped all over by the rose tinted can't ever say anything that isn't blind clapping brigade.
Lafferty is a good LEFT BACK. He's a pretty shit LEFT WING BACK. Unfortunately we play with WING BACKS. It isn't rocket science.
Wilder made a mistake with Hussey, and he is the absolute opposite of Lafferty. I think we could have done better than Lafferty and call mistake on Wilder on that too. My opinion.
Riley MUST be close to a start.

So anyone who thinks hes pants is reasonable ,but anyone who thinks hes good (including Mr Wilder) is rose tinted blind clapping brigade. For what its worth I think your opinion is shit.

Nothing reasonable about this thread. Infact it is contradictory. The OP states how people didn't agree a week ago about Laff's left foot because we won. Then I'm being told this is a forum and I shouldn't be on here if I can't accept other peoples opinions. The OP is an attempt to pursue a need to be right and suggests the poster is not accepting of people having opinions on his opinion. Contradiction.

I didn't say anyone who thinks hes good is a rose tinted happy clapper. You need to actually read what other people post more closely.
So what if Wilder thinks he's good,(has he told you this?).
Like everyone,(including you),Wilder is on occaision wrong. He was,as my post states, wrong with Hussey. It's my opinion, along with plenty of others that Lafferty is not good enough as a WING BACK.
The fact you think my opinion is shit is merely your opinion.
Which is absolutely minging shit.

Freeman's crossing hasn't been good enough for a while either.

I can only praise the wing backs this season but they probably limit this team more than anybody, especially Lafferty who never gets to the byline. If we had wide players anywhere near as good as our midfielders we'd be unstoppable.

Without a doubt. I'm skeptical about using players who are nominally defenders to deliver balls into the box. Partly because you risk being caught cold by a counter attack and partly because the delivery itself is questionable.

I'm hoping that having Jay O'Shea in the starting line-up will fulfill this role better.
