I reckon Hecky will see a point tonight at Sunderland as a good result because it will mean Boro have't gained any further ground on us.

So despite all the talk of risk and reward, I expect tonight we'll be cautious, trying to keep things tight with the hope we might go and nick a winner.

It doesn’t matter what the score is when you have a manager who

1- Isn’t judged on results by his boss

2- Is only bothered about what the data looks like

Big Sam Be seeing you

Do you really think so?

You only need to see the mods on here has lifted since they dropped points.

The players must feel equally buoyed to potentially stretch the lead to 6 points or even 6 points by the end of the week and a game in hand.

For fucks sake, there's some utter utter bollocks being discussed on here these past few days.

Be critical of Hecky by all means, but keep it fact based and relevant.

This is another post assassinating the manager based on absolutely nothing. The Middlesbrough result will have zero, nada, zilch bearing on how we approach the game tonight. We'll have a gameplan on how to approach the game (by all means criticise that after the event) and that will be the same regardless of external factors.

The narrative that Hecky is this fuckwitted reincarnation of George Graham is really getting dull now.

I'm not being critical of Hecky at all. Just calling it as I see it. If Boro had won last night I reckon we would be more attack minded tonight, but I just feel last night's result will have an impact on how we approach this one.

At this stage of the season results by other teams will make no difference to our game plan. We just need to keep trying to win every game, it’s as simple as that

As long as we focus on us and not the other team we will be fine.

Go to win the match, but I suppose make sure we don't lose too so we don't lose ground.

Gotta be honest, I've no idea what to expect. Sunderland away is always tough, big crowd etc.
And they got back to winning ways at the weekend.

As for us I wanna see a response to Saturdays non-performance. If they do that then they stand a better chance of getting the win.

As a side note, are we going to win a penalty this season and score from it?
To my knowledge we've had 2 and missed them both...

Benefit of the doubt, I think we will be what he's asked for tonight. Depending on if he's chosen the players to do it, I think we will go after Sunderland and play with intensity. But if he chooses fleck etc then he's just been feeding us bullshit this week

The only one I can think of off the top of my head was Brewster's miss at home v Blackpool. Can't recall another one.

Norwood missed one against Millwall, first home game.

The lack of penalties is odd given how much time we spend/touches in the opposition box and how many time we have players running with the ball into the box.

Genuinely can't remember that. Cheers!

Our performances and results against Millwall, Luton and Blackburn have left the door open for them too. I don’t think we can afford to just focus on Boro as the only threat. I’d be very disappointed if anyone in the club is settling for a point tonight.

We need a barometer on the landing page of this forum. When i went to bed last night it was doom and gloom as Boro were 1-0... at home

Woke this morning and i'm confused as to how i should feel.

Our season is not defined on what Boro do, it's what we do that counts and we just need to keep picking up points regardless

Get as many points as possible, i say ;)

I think the Boro result WILL have an effect on how we set up.
If we lose, Boro go above us if they beat Preston at home.
Game in hand or not, that will put us under a whole new kind of pressure playing catch up against a side that won't let up much.
A point tonight keeps us ahead regardless on the weekend's games.
I suspect the psychological outcome of that scenario playing out will figure highly in the way Hecky approaches this game.

Cautious is Hecky’s middle name.

I'm hoping we see a Forest away in the play off semi-type performance. That was off the scale. In reality, I suspect it'll be 1-0 either way and Berge will not need his shirt washing.
We had MGW then. The team coped really well without him for the first 2/3 of the season, mainly due to Ndiayes form.
However we've really missed him the last 6/7 games

If the ball is constantly played around the box rather than into it it is quite hard to win a penalty.

"Listen lads, before we get off the coach and go into the ground - I've been thinking about the Boro result last night. Forget all the preparation and the board plans, who's marking who and, well, everything, just go out and try to get a draw."

A typical away game then?!

So long as he doesn't wheel "tiredness" out as an excuse I dont care what happens, nobody broke a sweat last Saturday.. So they can't be tired, tiredness, come on ffs, it's the job..

Berge had a little sleep during the match, so he has less excuse than most.. But only just.

Energy levels were definitely down the other day

He’ll just need to be careful not crash into
an advertisement board.
