Has anyone noticed more and more advertising on the blades website lately? I logged on this morning to be offer some nice Jeans from USC and also on the latest news page had an advert for Thomas cook Ski holidays.

Has anyone else noticed this or have i just missed it in the past??

Can't say I've been keeping a count of the adverts dp, you must have more time on your hands than me ;)

Having said that, you do know how advertising and sponsorship works ? More adverts, more sponsorship means more money for the club (hopefully not just the website developers !)

The reason is i always look at the latest news and i have a ski shop so when saw the ad for skiing holidays i automatically looked, therefore noticed the all the USC adverts plastered on there to. Don't see it as a bad idea as long as they don't start flashing in your face then people will stop looking on there.

I agree it's annoying but a necessary evil unfortunately. As we've discussed on here before though, does the official site actually serve a purpose these days for up-to-date news ? I suspect if you surveyed fans, most wouldn't go on there more than once a week at most.

I sign on to it if I am buying tickets. It's the only reason it exists as far as I'm concerned.

Going on there for news or opinion would be like buying the Mail or Telegraph and expecting a none Tory biased story to appear.

Is anyone pissed off about the telephone numbers to the club . ie 0871. Maybe its just me but they used to be 0870 which most get free from their landline. yes I know ist been 0871 for a couple of years.

i straight up refuse to call 0870 and 0845 - i use 'say no to 0870'

just had a check and got this number for the lane - sheffield united football club - 0114 221 3156

I think you'll find that number unverified - I know who added it. It gets you though to reception but they are reluctant to put you through to ticket office from there. A lot now get 0845 and 0870 numbers free as part of their phone package. When those numbers became available as part of packages, lots of companies changed to the chargable 0871 and 0844 numbers and thats what pisses me off. You can also check those 0844 and 0871 numbers on the 'Say no' site.

Indeed. Even if you don't get it free from your landline it will probably cost more now it's an 0871 number.

One of my "projects" for the place I used to work was to manage the implementation of a new phone number that would make us more money when people rang us. We went 0871 and charged 10p a minute (taking 3.7p per minute ourselves). A right royal rip-off.
I put the details and the 01 number on "saynoto0870" as soon as we'd changed!

Great work. I wish more would do like you. Any chance of Sue on reception doing that?

That's a little harsh. I always take a look at the O/S before I log on to this one.
I often learn something useful before I read all the rumours from the ITK and wind-up merchants.

Do you still get charged a booking fee for sales over the phone? So calling on a 0871 number, you're in effect, being charged twice for not buying your tickets in person.

A few like me would find it difficult to visit in peron everytime we wanted info.
And if you want info thats not available on website? Not all are comfortable with using computers should they be made to do so?
