I feel that many fans (me included) have written him off unfairly. Lets not forget that sharp is still banging them in at 35, john terry was bossing it when was at villa for a season, pablo hernandez when he was at leeds. Lets be honest, all he has to be able to do is release the ball quickly and accurately and it’s an improvement to our midfield

How could i forget Mark Duffy who was hardly young in the promotion season

He's a solid player to have at the base of the midfield. Comparing him to Norwood defensively he is much better at covering and much stronger. Lacks Norwoods long passing range but if given time he can deliver line splitting passes into more advanced areas of the pitch, and he has a very thunderous long shot on him. I really don't get all the moaning over this signing. He's experienced in this league, he's been in SJ teams in the past so he knows what's expected. He's free. It's a new body to freshen up the squad/XI.

Originally i was one that moaned but adding a new body in who knows how SJ wants to play and will definitely be technically good, as thats what sj wants, won’t hurt at all

I think the concern, from me at least, isn't him signing. It would be fine if he were one of 2-3 midfielders we brought in. But he seems he's the person we would be relying on and he's 35, been playing in Qatar for two years and was poor the season before that in this league. Seems like a bold gamble to expect someone at his age to be able to play most of most games and be effective.

It's already been mentioned a few times that he was played out of his natural position for Florest, so not surprising that they didn't get the best from him.

If the gaffer trusts him, then I am more than happy to give him a chance, and if we also sign Longstaff (or similar) then I don't expect him to start every game anyway.

As you say, as long as he isn't the only midfielder we bring in, then it's probably low risk, at relatively low cost as well.
 
I don't want to slag the guy off before we've seen him but it's pretty poor when this is the best that we can up with.

Must be tough for a manager to sell the club to a prospective signing when he's been sold a poor imitation to start with.

Billy Sharp's been playing Prem football for the last 2 years. This lads been riding camels and smoking sheesh.

Did a good job in his last game in June for Algeria, came on late as a sub and sent off within 6 minutes of being on the field.

To be fair we are indeed of a tough guy, we are kinda soft at the moment.

I assume since he's a free agent we won't be offering him a contract until the window shuts. If we get players in then off he goes, if not then welcome to the Blades

I think you’re right, but wow what a shit way to run the club. Bet guedioura will feel really wanted and willing to fight for the badge 🙄
 
That and Bladeacoaster were the most stupid things I have ever heard a Blades manager say.
 
Hopefully the case that he's training with us to earn a contract and as an option if we can't get who we want.

You would also hope that if he's not good enough, Slav would be able to see that in training.
 
Sensible - at least we’ve had a chance to see if he’s still got anything about him
