I never ever said the players we have could win the league, always said after we finished 5th and given we only sold murphy and got in Sharp theres no reason we couldnt have finished somewhere between 3rd to 6th with ease
We can beat any team when we the application works like yesterday, just need good leadership to achieve it
I said ad infinitum the addition of 3 or so players could have took us higher , but we failed to strengthen for reasons only Adkins can give
He wasted every minute of both windows chasing unavailable players that held us back

He's still extremely well regarded at Southampton. I just sent a Saints fan the Twitter gaffe and he was unhappy to see the sort of reaction he's getting. He sent this back in response as one of his favourite Adkins moments:
