Now whether this is true on not i dont know but a poster on BM say's he's already made the board aware of two players he wishes to bring in, one being a midfielder and the other a striker. And if i read the follow up post correctly one of those two may have the initials of BB?

Any ideas?

Billy Barp?

Hope he takes a proper look at Cuvelier, who I honestly think is a peach of a player. Especially as he's worked hard and bulked up since the Weir regime where everyone was pretty weak.

shame he is just perminantly injured! (lasted just 5 minutes in his last come back whilst on loan)

Worth a bump. Bearing in mind speculation about possible summer signings.

The worry is, looking back over his previous signings, is Adkins capable of the major overhaul needed here over the summer? I've got serious doubts tbh. And his record this season inspires no confidence at all.

There again, I've no idea who would be able to do a good job of it so as to turn the juggernaut around (& I've certainly not got confidence in the board for them to appoint a serious alternative, with that squad building imperative in mind).

It's all about: would Adkins haul us down to a lower point than we're now at with inadequate signings, or would he indeed (against expectations?) inject that oh-so-needed blend of youth, dynamism & pace that we're crying out for? Wish I knew.

I suspect somewhere in between. A mix of good and bad signings in place of the dross being released that will improve us overall but probably not to a standard we'll all be thrilled with and we'll be left questioning whether he was backed properly, whether he chose badly etc.

I reckon you'd struggle to find a gaffer in the game who wouldn't be fazed by the prospect of losing as many players as we are come summertime. Particularly when there's little chance of re-opening negotiations with any of those about to depart, because they're largely shite at football.

If Nige is a man of his word, then he ain't a quitter, and I should hope he will see this summer for what it is; a huge blank canvas. A clean slate. A chance to get away from the majority of players who have been with us during our torrid time in this shit division and build a side worthy of this club and, most importantly, good enough for promotion.

All that remains is for the board to give him the tools he needs in summer. We've all got question marks over this part of the equation. They need to show us they mean business in ways different to those of the past.

Agree. I would add that a realistic target would be top six playing expansive attacking football with those young players. If he couldn't push us on to automatic in his last year, we'd then get rid free of charge.

Just wondering how many times you have seen him to make that judgement?

I know you weren't asking me, but I think your inference is that whatever the number is, it won't be enough to judge properly.

Personally, based simply on Vale, Rochdale and Fleetwood for forty five minutes (didn't see Burton), I agree with Gin &Juice, I've seen enough to believe he's a proper footballer, strong, good tackler, makes forward runs with the ball, good eye for a pass, not afraid to have a shot. Certainly good enough for the level we're at.

He was good at Rochdale. He did ok in the short time on the pitch at Vale. Didn't see Fleetwood. He was poor against Burton. He seems like an OK Player overall but I'd be reluctant to offer terms to a player with his injury record.

9 months later and a lot has changed.

Still think its a big gamble.
