Adkins needs to change.

I think it's staggering that fans like barny, when criticising managers overlook the human element of management so much. It was something Herbert did a lot on blades mad too.

If you read autobiographies of football managers you will learn that there are so many factors that influence their decisions. The example I always look to is Neil Warnock making Adel Taarabt captain at QPR when he was anything but a leader. In fact, he was a petulant child. But there were other reasons influencing the decision.

Some fans just decide we need a centre half with a strength rating of 80 or higher and who is over 6 foot. It doesn't always work. Look at Cullip, Butler etc.

Our most successful managers have made a lot of unpopular team selections because they know things about the dressing room environment that fans don't.
 
Well Adkins is disappointing people as we're not walking this league like everyone thought. Said it before all the Adkins tenure has proved is that Clough wasn't the moron many said he was. He definitely had the measure of Collins for example. Although I do believe Adkins will prove to be a better manager than Clough, for one I don't believe Clough could of signed Sharp and got this team attacking as well as they are. Secondly I think Adkins is a much better man manager than Clough. Take the incident with Che, by all accounts turned up for training worse for wear, Adkins goes ballistic drops him for the next game, bollocks him in public but then come Saturday, back in the side scoring goals. If it was Clough Che would probably been dropped, never to be seen again. Where's Che would be on every blade's lips until the question is answered when he scores 3 against us for Peterborough.
 
The only thing Adkins needs to do is find a core 16 players he can trust. He seems to be betting on the wrong horse or the wrong race. Confident he will get there once he realises his committee of players is all wrong

I'm aware my opinions are not liked very much. Yes.

I do plan on toning it down a little, for my benefit if not lots of others no doubt.

As another poster mentioned to me earlier, there's very little that can be changed until January.
 

I think barny highlights some pretty key mistakes which I find hard to disagree with.

Yes, he's a bit of an annoying poster who seems to play up to this villain-like character he's created for himself on here, but don't let that cloud your judgement on what's being said about SUFC.

Adkins isn't perfect and HAS made some mistakes but all managers make mistakes and despite the points raised, I still strongly believe he's the best that we can get to take us forwards.

You must also remember the reason why Adkins is being very selective about who he wants to bring in. The squad is severely bloated due to Clough's mis-management. That can't be resolved in 1 transfer window, and bringing in more players that might solve our problems may just accentuate them.

I don't think many of Barny's detractors are feeling elated with our plight right now. No doubt most, including me, agree with what you've just written.

We all have our styles, and there's 3 or 4 with me on ignore no doubt. But it's right that Barny should be taken to task about what he says and the way he says it, and he should consider why his fellow football fans almost unanimously seem to detest his posting style - unless he actually enjoys all this.

If you want to know what it is, it's probably that you seem to always have a negative point to make, but never a positive one. I know that may be a sign of the times but it's not all as disastrous as one might think if they could only read your posts.

I know you like to use this as a place to vent your frustrations but why not try posting when something that you're happy with happens at SUFC.

Hey up Barny.
I don't agree with much you say but I don't agree with people creating polls calling you a "bellend" either.
Personal abuse and name calling is not what this site should be about and it's one of the main reasons I prefer this site to others.

However, as you have asked for constructive criticism, I will try and you offer some:-

If you have a point to make, it's generally best to make it 2 or 3 times maximum and then leave it alone for a bit.
For example, was it really worth starting this new thread "Adkins needs to change" when you've already said it all on several other threads?
Alternatively, start this one new thread as an alternative to chipping in with exactly the same point on lots of different threads.

Having been very vocal and repetitive in your dislike of Clough, you were as I recall fully behind the recruitment of Adkins.
That being the case, would it be worth giving him more than a few matches before launching into him as well?
By all means offer constructive criticism of where he's going wrong and suggestions of how he can improve.
But it has been noted by many that you've been nit-picking negatives about his interview style and other such trivia almost from day one.

The above two reasons are my personal viewpoint on why people are possibly taking unbridge at you.
I may be wrong but you did ask.
