There is a difference in tone to Adkins interviews over the last couple of weeks.

I get the sense that Adkins has run out of patience with a few of the players but hasn't yet been able to have the clear out he wants yet. He needs to get on with it for me, if the board want that to happen before he can go again in the transfer market.

Warnock would have had 6 or 7 out by now simply by forcing the situation

Nothing to it.

It is so bleeding obvious you just get a queue of clubs to come in and pick up 6 or 7 of your worst players.

The moan like hell at the manager who can't make that happen.

What options does Adkins have certain players are not good enough, we have a load of players out injured who is going to take any of them off our hands ? To me his only option to change things is to throw in some of the youngsters and hope one or two swim rather than sink.

He seems to have a small core of 'starters' , (Billy, Collins, Freeman, Howard, Basham,.Done?) the rest is up for grabs it would seem...

Glad McGahey seemingly had a good game. Was seemingly written off by many before a ball was kicked this season. Should be given a run of games at Collins' expense when others return to fitness.

I've always liked him. He's young and has plenty to learn but has played well on a few occasions in the past and has all the physical attributes to be a good centre half.

He needs to be given a run of games and for someone to put faith in him. Let him make the mistakes and develop. He's still very young.

Seems early to rule out a season in October.

Very sensible and realistic post but don't think Adkins will stick around with all this bullshit for longer than a season.

I don't want to come across as a negative poster, although watching utd makes you feel that way , I've only managed to go to a few games this season , donny was one of them , and although we won ! I couldn't get excited watching the game , thought we were poor , luckily donny were worse, any other team would of but 6 past them ! I haven't seen a good game for a long time now , theres no sign of things getting any better , really hope adkins stick around cos I really think he'll do the business next season , his hands are tied at the moment until we have a clear out !

Agree mate i mean who is going to take on a overpaid under performing div 3 player and we have too many and the player's will just keep picking up a large one every week until the contract runs out so we are stuck with em like you say until the end of the season . I've been to all the games mate at home and 2 away and we look bang average mid table side that needs at least 3 players for a promotion push .

Possibly and five of the six would have been players he'd signed.
I think it's coming though, it's finding teams that will take them that will be difficult. It gets easier as we get into November and there are more injuries and clubs with poor form getting more desperate.

True marsh , we have such a large team on long contacts thankfully most running out at the end of the season, like you said ! Who the hell would want to buy any now , some of these players would struggle getting a game in the 3rd division. Think if we can get 2/3 quality players in soon ! We might just have a chance in this poor leugue, but I won't hold my breath

I meant it gets easier to loan players out. In the same way we've realised we need to improve, other clubs will be realising the same and will want to bring new faces in. I'm thinking L2 and Scottish clubs mainly. And teams with small squads may need to bring players in to cover injuries. That's the only way I can see us shipping any out before the JTW.

We need to stop bringing in refugees from the championship and start to buy some young, hungry players from our divisional rivals.

It would cost more on up front payments as we'd have to pay decent transfer fees but if we got it right we could eventually sell some of the better ones for big money and reinvest the profits. And we'd probably have to pay them lower wages initially.
Of course, get it wrong and you end up with a team like Weir had.

Well, people keep assuring us on the forum that apparently there is money to spend. Phippsy keeps assuring us that there is money to spend. We don't need to go and spend millions on players to redo our squad. I cannot see how the continuous arrival of championship refugees and loan players helps us.

There seem to be many players in our first team that don't give a fuck, so we're fucked!

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just pointing out the pros and cons. I'd prefer permanent signings.
