Adkins Interview Ahead of Oldham (H)

Not much this week. Dead bats Collins and Baxter questions. Sounds like they're all looking forward to the game.
  • Billy trained this week
  • Flo minor niggle - great from where he was to where he is now
  • McEveley trained all week
  • Woolford - out - that really was a bad tackle at Rochdale and something should have been done about it
  • Scoogs been in and out with niggles trained at the end of the week
  • Collins - very diplomatic
  • Not necessarily looking to replace him - five CHs already
  • Loans - again non-committal
  • Ryan Kent - again non-committal. he does say "You can't keep anything quiet at Sheffield United," like it's a scoop but to me sounds a lot like it's part of the interview game
  • excited about the 3-5-2 shape and the game at the weekend
  • good goal disallowed at Fleetwood
  • Done said last week was one of the best of the season - LWB seems like his best position utilises his attributes, so I bet he's happy
  • Baxter there's a process in place - could do with clarification on that process from somewhere
  • we have been attack minded are creating chances
  • Done: everyone excited about the weekend
  • due a run
  • wants to get promoted this season
  • day I came in already looking to next season
  • need to apply training to match day
  • could've won last week and at Rochdale
  • it's a challenge of course
  • division is inconsistent
  • need to go and win a series
  • expect opposition to be tough
  • like to think we'll have a good atmosphere
  • like to think the players will get the fans off their seats
  • need to move ball quickly - we do, imo this is a very big and consistent failure this season
  • need energy, verve
  • want supporters to be excited
  • want supporters to enjoy coming to Bramall Lane and be part of bigger and better things
  • it's a challenge at this moment in time
  • can be negative about it or what can I do to help the cause
  • the players working their socks off
  • keep focus on winning the next game

How much of this is the same as the previous preview? 60-70%? Didnt see 'endeavour' in there either?? :)

I think we did endeavour at one point.

The interview's very similar because the situation's very similar.

Consistent or repetitive?

I have suggested we could start a weekly Questions for the Manager Thread if there are any burning issues - I'm pretty certain it would get read by journos.

I'd've liked clarification on the Baxter procedure, instead of the half-hearted questions. Might start a thread.

Not quite sure why you've omitted it, but the Kieran Wallace pelvic injury was the thing that stood out for me and is definitely new news given his complete absence from any previous interview, no official hint of injury, and no questioning on this by RS. It suggests that this is an injury, and not Wallace "falling out of favour" as suggested the last few weeks.

I was already under the impression that he was injured. I'm sure it was already out there.

I think one or two had mentioned it in an 'I assume he's injured' kind of way, but Adkins hadn't mentioned anything and no detail had been given. But there's been a few others that have suggested that this was something unrelated to injury. So that's cleared that one up.

a) it's a vast conspiracy...that goes all the way to the top

b) sometimes I miss stuff out - and anything particularly relevant gets picked up in the thread

The Wallace stuff belonged in there. Was its puzzling, troubling omission shadowy sinisterness or bumbling incompetence?

Kieran Wallace is definitely injured. I spoke with my mate that deals with him professionally and he said that he's not doing any training at the moment because of injury.

However after looking at the other points around the point in question, most notably "due a run" which precedes it and "day I came in......" which follows it - clearly very Adkins in style, I have come to the conclusion you may be a buffoon of the highest order.

At what point does optimism, in the harsh face of reality become dillusional? Can't fault his optomism, but it just doesn't seem to match the reality of my perception.

Yeah yeah, so that aside, do we need to sack William Henry Foulkes for providing duff information? Or do you just need to be employed as my personal assistant to translate what WHF has said about Adkins' statement.
