Short interview < 5'. Mentions how hard the players work many times.
  • thought we played well especially second half
  • created plenty of opportunities
  • exciting
  • supporters reaction shows an appreciation of the effort of the players
  • appreciate that
  • also appreciate the efforts of the players
  • could have won by several
  • clean sheet
  • only 1 point
  • should be buoyed by the performance and the reaction for this season and next season and beyond
  • got to go and win the next game
  • Q: Microcosm of the season: not taking chances?
  • Adams hit the bar in the first minute
  • Q: Is 3-5-2 a blueprint?
  • hard honest effort
  • Q: Yes but is 3-5-2 a blueprint?
  • I like us playing quick attacking football, go and get it back, be compact, break, pass quickly and calmly, get crosses in, whatever the formation those are the principles
  • look to go and win the next game
  • got to believe we still can
  • Baptiste played well, non-committal on longer term

I listened WHF. I got fed up of the hard workings as well.

Was talking about 3-5-2 on the way home. Interesting that it came up in the interview.

Did our midfield look better because we had 5 in there? We have players for a 4-5-1 - and a few of us mentioned earlier in the season we'd be great with a 4-5-2. But we had to make do with 4-4-2 and our one dimensional either/or midfielders.

I imagine recruitment will focus on 4-4-2.

This could be another point of contention.

The difference WHF is that he is not trying to run a midfield four consisting of Hammond, Woolford, Coutts and one other Captain Slow who have no chance of linking with the attackers. By using a solid back three he can have the option of a fluid mid 5 and as long as the wing backs can link, his attackers at least have a remote chance of service.

To be fair it was a shocking interview by Seth. Poor questions, didn't even try to ask about the incidents within the game. #endofseasoninterview

We would probably be great with 4-5-2 as it would mean we had one extra player than the opposition ;)

With him talking about going forward after this season then it's looks like, for once, the Labrador man was wrong. May just be smoke and mirrors though.

Just one "endeavour". No "keep it out one end, stick it in the other", nor any "got to perform in the arena"s or "honest, hardworking professionals". The Wisdom of Geese and The Art of War seem like fading memories...

Consistency of performance Nigel, consistency of performance.

Recruitment should be based around flexibility, not any one formation. Players who can play in a number of formations.

Central midfielders who are athletic enough to be effective in a 4-4-2. Midfielders who can be effective in wider areas for 3-5-2. Wingers who can play as wide forwards in a 4-3-3. Centre halves who give us the option to play a suitable back three. Full backs who are good enough going forward to play as wing backs.

Obviously you can't have everything but it should be possible to strike a good balance.

sorry but i couldn't disagree more.. round holes round pegs.

Signing players who can play different formations doesn't mean it would be a case of square pegs in round holes. Being able to play in more than one formation (not position) isn't a big ask. You've got to have more than one possible way of playing within a squad. It'd be hard to assemble a squad that can only play one way anyway.
