I would really love it if it was Maguire and my optimism for the season would soar. If it was Bartley, I still think he would be a good addition.

He was very inexperienced when he played for us in the Championship. He showed he had some ability but looked raw and wasn’t helped by playing with bombscare. He has had a lot of games at higher level than us now and I’m sure he would improve us.

Has anyone considered it could be Leon Britton?

He'd be no real improvement. Good footballers footballer, definitely not the captain type we need in the middle of the park.

I don't blame Harry for wanting to go. But I do think footballers should honour their contracts rather than stampt their feet for a move. When they signed, they wanted the protection and security of the contract they were signing so should honour the same unless the club receive a bid they want to accept off their own bat without pressure from the player or agent. Then again, we as a club have shown that such foot stamping gets players the move them want so we bring it on ourselves to a degree.

Yes, briefly. Then I remembered he 'couldn't settle' in Sheffield so then I thought there's no point in risking that again.

I think Swansea played quite a few fringe players last night so it could be one of several. That said, how many would want to uproot and move to Sheffield temporarily unless they've been told they have no future at Swansea at all?

It's more probable it's a Hull player as a loan to a Sheffield club would be less disruptive.

There's also the possibility that NA just fancied going to a match.

Harry would be an interesting signing, but considering we're struggling for pace in the back four do we think Harry for Collins is the solution?

Yeah Harry was a fool for wanting to better himself after he improved year on year in his 4 seasons in League 1, whilst his team mates regressed year on year around him.

Hardly his fault that nepotism stands in the way of him being given a chance in the first team in the league.
So he was blissfully unaware that Bruce had his own son on the books and about 3-4 other centre backs that would be higher up the pecking order at the time of the move?

In which case, he's more naive than I thought, initially

The 'he wanted to leave so fuck him' mentality really is narrow minded and pathetic.
He was absolutely right to leave and it's what any of you would've done in your own jobs. More money, higher level, still close to home and for all we know Bruce might have told him he'd be involved much more than he has been. He will have seen that we weren't strengthening like we should have done too which was probably a contributing factor.
He'd improve us immeasurably, that's the main thing. So why cut your nose to spite your face?

I still think, fuck him. He wanted to leave for the cash. Why the fuck should we kick start his career back off?

^^^^^^^^
Tried make it narrower for you.

Oh the Pathos, it hurts! The Pathos is killing me. Ouch! That smarts.

At least he is going to get another first team appearance in the next round of the league cup - Wowsers!
What's that? 6-8 starts in games he will have clocked up in two seasons - higher level vs Swansea ressies?
At least his mam can put the kettle on for him when he gets home from training eh? Bless.

/Fuck him

On the question of Adkins at Hull and the publicity surrounding it - wonder if it was a ploy to see if it pushes Fulham to conclude a deal for Burn?

Alternatively it might be an indicator that the Burn deal is now the dying embers of a once raging flame.

Well, Higgo has gone off to Oldham so that frees up some wedge for three months - unless we are letting Oldham have him for nowt - just to get him some game time

We've got rid of Higgo? What's the betting Sammon does a hamstring within the next week?

I hate important players leaving us for the extra cash dispite how it affects us, the club who he's under contract to.

McDonald was a prime example when he went to Wolves. Similar sized club in the same division, saw the money and screwed us and David Weir.

Harry's the same except he went to a smaller club in a higher division. No time for him at all. As far as I'm concerned he made his bed and all that.

Saying that if he did come back I'd support him on the pitch same as any other player, but off it...fuck him.

Hopefully NA's got an even bigger kitty now our Kev's back in the big time:

"Chancellor George Osborne has announced a multi-million pound Chinese investment in three property projects in northern England.

Hualing Industry and Trade Group will invest in Scarborough Group-led schemes in Leeds, Salford and Sheffield with a gross value of £1.2bn.

The projects are expected to create 18,000 jobs and 10,000 new homes.

Mr Osborne is in Xinjiang, in China, on a trade visit partly aimed at boosting funding for the "Northern Powerhouse".

The three projects are:
?Middlewood Locks, a £730m residential project in Salford incorporating a total of 2,000 residential units and about 750,000 sq ft of commercial accommodation
?Thorpe Park, a £400m mixed-use project in Leeds
?Sheffield Digital Campus, a £40m commercial and office development that will see 130,000 sq ft of office space built in the city

Scarborough Group chairman Kevin McCabe said: "As a family business with its roots in the north of England, we are now very proud to bring our partners in China to the UK to invest in our great northern cities and to accelerate the development of our major projects in Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield.

"Our partnership with the Hualing Group is a new and exciting one for Scarborough and we look forward to working with them over the coming years to bring our northern projects to fruition."

Mr Osborne said: "We are building an ever closer relationship with China - it's a partnership that is set to unleash growth and help regions like Xinjiang where we know investment can make a real difference, as well as unleash new growth back home, in places like our own Northern Powerhouse."

Julie Dore, leader of Sheffield City Council, welcomed the investment and said she hoped "additional investment from China" would follow as a result of the trade delegation.

"The Digital Campus has been extremely successful in developing new technological businesses in Sheffield and this investment will allow us to take this scheme forward to ensure we remain at the cutting edge of new developments well into the 21st Century," she added"

Would have thought if he was interested in any player(s) , Adkins would have attended the game with our new head coach ( bloke from Scunny ) , and not on his jacks .

UTB

image.jpg I don't care how much he left us in the lurch, he'd get us promoted with Adkins in charge.

Maybe he was at another game watching another player?

Bit left field I know but.....

I told a Hull City fan at work about this earlier. He said Adkins was actually applying for a job on their coaching team.

Funny fucker.

Typical McCabe, Sheffield get £40m investment Leeds get 10x that, Manchester 20x that, BOOOOOOO McCabe OUT ;)
Chengdu Blades have finally paid off for our Kev then

An ITK poster with a good record over on that despicable, sub human infested dirty hellhole Bladesmad says Hull 'flat out rejected' a loan enquiry from us last week.

Not sure how that works for both parties. So it's OK for the club to trash the contract if they get an attractive bid (Quinny), but not OK for the player to do the same? (Maguire?)

No I don’t think it’s OK for a club to trash a contract. I think a contract should only be terminated with the mutual agreement of all parties to the contract. So in a Murphy/Maguire situation, where the player wants to go but the club doesn’t want to sell, the only way the player should go is if he waits out his contract and leaves at the end of it or the buying club makes an offer that persuades the selling club to sell without the forces coming from the player/agent. In a situation like Quinn, he should only go if he finds Hull’s offer preferable to staying with SUFC on his current contract. That, is my interpretation of the basic principles of how contract law should be implemented.

.

I see McDonald a little differently. He didn’t effectively threated to dishonour his contract to engineer a move (Let’s face it, that’s what the club is dealing with when they talk about a player wanting out). All parties knew the terms of the contract when it was made and nobody tried to weasel out of it. When players like Maguire and Murphy sign these contracts, they want the security the contract offers. If they get injured or play crap, they would still expect to hold the club to the contract. They should be similarly held to theirs. I think the players/agents lack of integrity is an issue but I think the club could also be stronger (as per West Brom, Everton etc).

Then again, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I don’t expect my footballers to be beacons of virtue. Let’s face it, gone are the days of loyal, committed players like the man in my username. If we don’t sign the dishonourable nob-heads, we’re likely to be left with unwanted dross like McEveley etc.
