ImagineQuiet day?
Lucky sod. Would love to be yanked off at half time or anytime for that matter!Woody would get yanked off at half time for shooting outside the box.![]()
Have you reported your dad to Childline?Serious question for older blades about TC, (before my time) was he really that good? Who from the 80s or 90s (does not have to be a United player) would be comparable in style of player?
My old man said nobody was fit to lace the boots of Jimmy Hagan, even TC. He did say Tony Philliskirk got close though )
Take it you disagree?!Have you reported your dad to Childline?

I saw Currie (who was very, very good) but never Hagan, so can't comment on him - but would be surprised if he was better than TC.Take it you disagree?!
TC & Woody were magnificent players, they really were, but TC was a special talent criminally under used by England. He had everything, a good change of pace, good in the air, strong on the ball & in the tackle, terrific shot in either foot, all the ball skills you would ever need, & the confidence to take any game by the scuff of the neck & dominate it. In terms of style & ability think Glen Hoddle, but he was more dynamic, much stronger & more physical in general, I know I have Blades tinted glasses but second only to George Best in my opinion, & that is because he didn't have quite the stage to showcase himself that Best had.

Never saw Hagan and just missed out on Joe Shaw but have been told by other old fans of other clubs that Shaw was a Rolls Royce of a player.
As for TC - in an era of cloggers, TC stood out with a few other players of skill and considering some of the awful pitches that were around at the time he fitted into a side that oozed quality. We all marvel at Norwood pinging it about, TC did it on poor pitches and often without thinking - just a quick look or instinct.
We wouldn't be able to afford him these days but there was a reason we played this song................

Brought a tear to my eye did that and it wasn't just the costumes .![]()
