Having seen them both extensively there's no doubt they would make a difference. Their ability on the ball was exceptional and Woodys deadball hitting was probably bettered by no one in that era.

Some of the pitches in those days were disgraceful - Currie and Woody would be magnificent players on the desso.

My old man said nobody was fit to lace the boots of Jimmy Hagan, even TC. He did say Tony Philliskirk got close though )

TC & Woody were magnificent players, they really were, but TC was a special talent criminally under used by England. He had everything, a good change of pace, good in the air, strong on the ball & in the tackle, terrific shot in either foot, all the ball skills you would ever need, & the confidence to take any game by the scuff of the neck & dominate it. In terms of style & ability think Glen Hoddle, but he was more dynamic, much stronger & more physical in general, I know I have Blades tinted glasses but second only to George Best in my opinion, & that is because he didn't have quite the stage to showcase himself that Best had.

I saw Currie (who was very, very good) but never Hagan, so can't comment on him - but would be surprised if he was better than TC.
The abuse was bringing Philliskirk into the equation as sarcasm can also damage a child's development

I will add to my comments above by saying that I believe TC had dodgy knees, one worse than the other, & often did little training during the week so he could play. It didn't seem to hinder him though, & it didn't stop Man Utd wanting him or signing for Leeds.

He had everything, a good change of pace, good in the air, strong on the ball & in the tackle, terrific shot in either foot, all the ball skills you would ever need, & the confidence to take any game by the scuff of the neck & dominate it. Yes excellent summary and there was no mention there of his tremendous passing skills. Anyone who saw him could not forget how he could turn and hit 40 yard passes directly to the feet of Woody as he ran down the wing. Truly amazing ability. What a player. And what a player Woody was too. And we were truly blessed to see those two in the same team together for a while.

As one example, I worked in Leeds for a number of years with a Middlesbrough fan who had lived a lot of his adult life in Doncaster working in H&S at British Coal. His dad used to take him all over the place watching games and his dad waxed lyrical about this footballer called "Joe Shaw". Therefore his dad took him to see........Joe Shaw play..........and that's where I heard the phrase "Rolls Royce". I used to like talking to the "oldies" about football when it was a completely different era to when I started in 1967. There appears to have been much more respect for other teams players in the early 60's
