I don’t see it happening at all but if the rumours are true £30 mil is a good price. 24 on the other hand (if no bonuses are met) isn’t great, especially if we owe bournemouth 15% too

Verrips is genuinely a good keeper. We didn’t go through the courts to get him for nothing. Top clubs in holland were sniffing round him after his loan
Really hope verrips does well cus if not and we knock on QPR's door and offer 5 million we know the answers gunna be ya got 30 for Rammers we want loads more. Noticed Villa buying all them players b4 they let diver go.. Sensible business

I'm not sure that 'the passing about the six yard line bollocks' is compulsory.
No its not but the team will be instructed to do that by the manager

And even he was good at it,
No he wasnt when Carlisle put the pressure on in the 2nd half

do you see players further up the pitch keeping the ball for long enough to make the fans feel confident?

This is about the goalkeeper not the midfield or attack but they did fill me with more confidence than against Birmingham albeit lesser opposition

Some of the comments from the gooners of Twitter are enough to make you gip. I wish he could go to a better club for the same amount of money, but there we are.

Arsenal fans really are the fucking worst. Rammers will feel the eyes on him, waiting on him to drop a bollock so that they can slag off Arteta or Kroenke for signing another piece of shit.

Edit: mcbladeface appears to have beaten me to it.

Jack Rodwell says Hi.

I think you're looking for things that aren't there. No-one is saying that. However, you could make a case for saying transfer dealings weren't his strongest suit without it becoming WilderBashing.
Jack Rodwell says Hi ? I thought his fee was low.
What about £10m Lys Mousset saying he'll play 90 consecutive minutes in a football match at some point before his Blades contract expires and we say Au Revoir or better still Adieu to a worthless asset ?

A top keeper is arguably even more important for success this season, with the attacking way we’re looking to play.

When have we ever ‘used the money’ well over the many years of selling our best players. Absolute rubbish argument.
Selling your best players doesn’t work - see Watford & Norwich last year.

Watford sold Dacoure, Capoue, Estupinan, Dawson, Deulofeu and Pererya. The only big player they really kept was Sarr .

Norwich sold Lewis and Godfrey who are in the same ballpark as Ramsdale in that they are young prospects. They kept Bueundia by telling him he could leave the season after which he now has.

Such a charming bunch. I think most of my reservations about selling him are more to do with who it's to. I mean they're just such wankers. I'd be hesitant selling them the steam of my own shit.

None of those boys could find Highbury on a map.

Their fans are vile, by far the most fickle in the PL. I worry about Ramsdale's mental health going there. Be thought we were rough with him last year. Ultimately, nobody cares if you're a bad keeper at Sheff Utd except our fans. He'll be under the spotlight big time there.

Classic Blades bedwetting if that turns out to be the case, obviously climate change is responsible for a large percentage of sea level rises, but I do wonder if the scientists have taken into account the huge amounts of piss leaking out of Sheffield whenever some rando with a dodgy record posts a rumour about one of our players.

Because we spent the PL money on transfers and wages and now the tv income has been reduced by 40%.
We didn't spend it - Wilder wasted it , £120m to get relegated in abject fashion - Norwich managed to get relegated but it cost them nowt.
We have lots of deadwood in the squad + SJ need at least one CB & an entire midfield - whether any if the mixed bag of strikers can actually score some of the chances the yet-to-arrive New Midfield hope to create is a moot point for later ventilation

Ask anyone of them if they know who Nigel Winterburn is. I'm sure they'd be scrambling. The guy in that fast show sketch is probably more a fan than any of these.

pommpey said we won't get more than ten

And I stand by it.

His record for two thirds of last season was disappointingly shit and it's not entirely fair to blame a lot of the goals and fuck ups and losses on the defence, shit as that was.

Last third - 'doing his job'

England team? England, England's Number Four, as the Birmingham fans were shouting

Their goal, and our loss? Should have got a hand to it, as he should have done the Wolves goals a year ago.

McBurnie signed a 4 year deal on a £17m transfer in June 2019. He's on the books for £8.5m at the moment so anything above that would be reflected as a profit in the accounts. Similar for Mousset: £6m (ignore the full-fat French caps, 10 PL goals etc £10m Bournemouth leaked to the press) over three years so he's currently valued at around £2m.

Ramsdale performs worst on clean sheet % (team metric), pass completion (80% of his attempted passes were long - clear Wilder tactic there) and penalty saves. His save % is decent, performance on crosses surprisingly good and he has a positive PSxGA metric.

Yep, exactly, many of the flaws on team metrics or Wilder tactics, rather than necessarily him individually as a goalkeeper

Over the last two seasons, he has faced a high volume of shots and has conceded marginally fewer goals than he was expected to concede with a decent save % and with trends improving over time, looking at the second half of last season vs. the first half and also his PSxGA stats for us (small +ve) vs. Bournemouth (small -ve). He also had 4 errors leading to chances in the first half (and 2 leading to a goal) but zero in the second half. So overall a decent picture given his age.

Amusing that Arsenal sold Martinez who was probably the best GK in the league last year for a figure less than they are reportedly looking at Ramsdale for today!

All £220m+Ish of it? Plus £70m parachute payments, worst case scenario?
I haven’t seen the accounts for the 20/21 season as they’re not out yet but our total wage bill including staff was £77m for the previous season. If you just assume last season was the same, that’s £154m. Add to that our transfers and whatever has been paid towards buying the stadium etc it can’t be far off that.

Unless you know different, in which case, you should probably write an article about it.

Arsenal are getting an absolute battering on social media for this deal.

He’s a very very brave lad as the pressure there is going to be intense with the rumoured price tag.

Yeh b
Other way round for me. Berge is going regardless. Whether summer or January or next summer. Just a matter of time. We could have kept Ramsdale for the next 5 years.
Yeh but it might take 5 years for soft shots & headers bouncing under or over his slow dives

Hilarious that some of the posters on here almost pushing him out the door and writing him off would be the first moaning about loyalty if he was forcing a move.
Genuine GLTTL if he goes, you’ve got balls of steel lad, and you did amazing well to be thrown into what your were and to rise to the top. You’re just too good for us unfortunately and I look forward to Shoreham welcoming you back one day with Arsenal.

He’ll be ok for the first season as I don’t think he’ll see the field much and the anger will be directed at the club for spending so much on a backup. The season after that however when Leno is in the last year of his deal and thus easier to move on.............yeah thick skin required to handle the most entitled fan base in football.

If Wes is no.2 , WTF were we chuffing about with Verrips , Eastwood & Dewhirst then ?
Dewhurst is a prospect who needs to go and play first team football on loan........the other 3 including Wes I really don’t have a clue.

3 year deal. 3 years! When nobody else was offering him a deal.
Maybe someone was. I suspect the 3 years was a way of getting him to sign on low wages. I’ve heard players say before that some will take a lower wage for a longer contract because they value the security. Back up keepers are weird, they know they won’t play much so you often have to offer them pretty decent wages as compensation. I guess three years on a shit wage was a more suitable deal for us than one year on decent money.
If I’m going to criticise, it’s that it seems Verrips is quite decent and I’m not sure why Wilder seemed to freeze him out.

We're pushing Arsenal as far as they'll go
When they tire of it we'll go crawling back and accept an offer that was less than their starting offer
