It’s irrelevant to us but do you not think £25m of their budget should go on or towards something that will improve their team immediately.

They had one of the better defences (top 10 I believe) last season but couldn’t win games.

I guess the question is do they consider £25m to be a large % of their budget, not so sure its considered a large fee anymore for clubs at the top of the PL, and whilst £25m could be put towards an attacking player its not going to get you someone who is likely to change the game or at least in the eyes of these lot up there. I've just looked at their squad they have Leno, A 26-year-old Icelandic nobody and a guy who doesn't have a Wiki page as gks so they are desperate in that position

They loaned a backup keeper last year and didn't resign him due to wanting to gain a homegrown player in that role.

The real truth is they fucked up with Martinez, not only is he better than both Leno and Ramsdale (currently) he's also considered Homegrown.

Of course he will have wanted to go, just wouldn’t have forced the move and had a strop if it didn’t happen
I genuinely don’t think he will haven’t wanted to go he didn’t want to go to Bournemouth I think he wanted to be our number one. But both times he’s sold for the good of the club somethings just aren’t meant to be no matter how much you want it and this would seem to be one of them for him.

Unless there's secret footage that Verrips has suddenly turned into the second coming of Yashin then this should be shoes/car park territory

Sell rammers for 20m I wouldn't be surprised this board are thick enough to sell berge for 10m because they are skint
So ramsdale went from asking price of 35m arsenal pushed us and we accept a rubbish amount best of all it will be undisclosed

Of course.

Every player wants to play for a 'top 6' club and anything that says otherwise is bollocks.

i hope i am wrong, but what i am predicting is that Rammers will have the exact same predicament at Arsenal, leading them to looking for a new keeper. Rammers will then end up on loan to a lower-PL/Championship club
But could that be us??

Nonsense mate read my lips and trust what I say good authority

“He was very happy to stay at the Lane”
I don’t doubt that but I don’t think he’s exactly devastated that his wages are doubling and he’s signing for one of the biggest clubs in england. You know what Southgates like, he’ll be a regular now. Happened with deano. Was on loan with us and did play a minute for England. Goes back to man united and gets his debut despite playing no games for man u up to that point. Its a win win. We can drastically improve the squad now

Football London reports that advanced talks are underway. They note that Arsenal are expected to pay an up front fee of £24 million, while add-ons could take the overall cost up to £30 million

Far more inclined to believe the London press on this, close to the buying club.

That's an acceptable figure to me. 24m rising to 30m+. Given we've achieved very little to go beyond the 12.6m we initially outlayed, though I'd envisage Bournemouth also have a sell on. So we might end up having paid 14.3m sold for 24m so a near 10m profit and be entitled to 85% of 6-8m worth of possible add ons.

The 24m in, minus the immediate sell on of 1.7m gives us decent wiggle room.

Even if you take wages out of it, he'd be fucking stupid to turn down the opportunity when it's knocking on the door.

Why is it put the discussion why instead of saying that
He's going for £30m including add ons not really a low offer is it. Then you claim yet again abut the board accepting very low offer for berge because they're skint. £10m like seriously? McCabe isn't in charge no more

The best thing about undisclosed, is it keeps the frothers frothing.

Well your comment “drastically improve the squad now” …..my only comment is I hope your right but on past scenarios I’m not hopeful….we shall watch with interest and hopefully I don’t have to come back to your comment and say I told you so

Personally not that fussed about him leaving, think we’ll have a replacement already lined up once he’s left and we’ve made a few quid.

Based of darren smiths comments about having signings lined up and in the works, i think we’ll be fine

pommpey said we won't get more than ten

Going around selling your player of the season, who plays at a key position for which we have a huge drop off in quality to the backup for next to no profit, is the sort of thing I don't really want my club to do
What if we can get someone that was arguably the best championship keeper last season + use the money to fund other squad improvements - All without causing us long term financial issues?

Honest answer to an honest question.

Has Ramsdale improved us during his time here.

I dont think he has, based on the goalkeeper that we had before and the one before him.

So him leaving and putting money back into the club is a good move, maybe fund our targets to actually improve the team.

doesnt matter what we all think its quite obvious slav cant bring the players in he wants unless ramsdale or berge or even both are sold were not the first relegated club from the prem to be in this situation my opinion is that both will be sold but if it enables us to bring 5 or 6 new faces in so be it the whole squad needs freshening up
