A yank who would appreciate some SUFC culture- and general football schooling

We had a similar one on Blades mad a few years back - the thread went for the same length with the same horny geek boys spraying their shorts - can't remember 'her' name' but she claimed to live in Upstate New York and disappeared as quickly as she arrived. Now this one might be genuine but it has all the same hallmarks....someone explain please

We also had Princess OV Pork, and her facebook account.

I assure any who may still be a Doubting Thomas (or whatever your name is) that I am who I say I am and my intentions are as I have laid them out for you. Though I do understand your suspicions in this day and age, I promise I'm not putting you on for kicks and giggles. And I am not one of those Americans who think we're the best people on earth and everyone else should feel privileged just to lick the mud off our shoes. I've always gravitated towards people from other countries. In college I got teased by all my American classmates for hanging out with the foreign exchange students all the time. My response was that they (the exchanges) were more interesting and less stupid than my fellow Americans.

But you will believe what you want to believe.

my suspicion is that this "Jennifer " character is a complete fake. But it's hilarious how some of you have fallen over yourselves to help her! Just be clear. There's no sex in it for you. And it's probably a bloke just winding you up.

:D

The admins already verified her authenticity. I'm not sure why anyone would doubt that anyway, what kind of a wind up would that be? Where's the punchline?

For me, it's clearly not a wind up, it's just really, really weird. I can't imagine ever deciding, for example, to write a book about a chef from Utah (random US place I thought of that I've never been to and have no connection to) and casually popping onto the Utah Jazz forum to discuss local culture with a bunch of random basketball fans, sharing all my personal information about my medical conditions, 'quirky' personality traits and political views, asking where to buy Jazz merchandise and desperately trying to fit in. It's just surreal.

I'm sure the OP is a very nice person, I have no doubt at all about that, and I wish her very good luck with her book. But it's all a bit weird if you ask me.

So I guess she'll fit in well around here.

moDtheGod: Very nice might be a bit of a stretch. Nice most of the time might be a smidge more accurate. Depends on amount of sleep, general health, whether or not it's summertime here (hate it), etc. And if you think all THIS is weird, you haven't even scratched the surface. Now, I'm not talking Jeffrey Dahmer weird, or even eat-your-own-dandruff weird. But I am an artist, and we tend to be an odd sort. In fact, we pride ourselves on it

For the record, my name is Jennifer. I am from and live in the southeastern United States. Please don't hold that against me, lol.

I need some help, and according to someone posting in sheffieldforum.co.uk, this is the place I should come get it. I'll try to keep it brief: I am in the wee-small early stages of penning (what I hope will one of the liftetimes be) a novel. My secondary protagonist is a British ex-pat chef hailing from Sheffield (yes, a chef from Sheffield -- insert rimshot here!) who is a Blades fan.

Personally, I don't know much about football -- or, as we call it here, soccer. I don't know much about what we call football, either, although that feels like a misnomer and is certainly another story for another day. So I'll need some indoctrination in football as you guys know it and in Blades culture/fandom. Key events in Blades history, the like. The more condensed, yet still hitting the important points, the better.

If anyone could help, I would be indebted to you for . . . well, a ridiculously long time. Thanks!

There's an old saying in Yorkshire (Sheffield is in Yorkshire BTW), 'if you do owt for nowt then do it for thi sen.' This interprets that 'should you be willing to do something without reward then please do it for yourself'.

Now I would imagine there's been plenty of Yorkshire folk on this forum who've done something for you without reward over these 13pages. May I suggest you post your findings so far of what makes up a Blade and how those characteristics will transfer themselves to your second protagonist.

If you've seriously been taking notes and developing your character as this thread has developed you should be able to answer this request in the next 30 minutes.

I am sure we all look forward to your reply.

It's early morning here. Just woke when I heard my phone chime. Forgive me, please, but I have an answer but it's a bit lengthy and I'm not conscious enough to lay it out in a way that makes sense. Can you give me a few hours? Thanks!

Oh, ok then

Relax a bit, Jennifer
You don't need to rush anything to satisfy some sceptical demand.

It's game day and we have a really important match at Bramall Lane this evening, 19:45 British Summer Time.
Playing Millwall, so everybody will be focused on that.

Besides, we've waited almost 6 years to get out of this shit division so we've had to exercise patience.
Being Bornablade would have taught anyone that

Just remember this simple formula:
Sheffield United = Good
Sheffield Wednesday = Evil

So basically its a battle of good versus evil.

Personally speaking, I’ve responded to requests before for help and information from posters both male and female.

I’m quite happy to help out if I can and I’m not only doing it in the hope that I might somehow get a shag off a married woman who loves on a different continent.

Neither do I expect them to keep justifying themselves and their motives at every turn. There are some very paranoid people on here.

Would would it make a difference if she wanted to love on this continent?;)

We are without reward? Someone asks those of us who post on here to tell them all we know about United, and you think we have not had a reward. A therapist would charge a fortune for providing a service like that.

Exactly. I'd settle for a hand job

I understand.

Here, the predominant favorite, when it comes to collegiate sports anyway, is the University of North Carolina Tarheels, whose colors are light blue and white like Wednesday's. Their archrival (my favorite team, and the not-so-predominant favorite) are the Duke University Blue Devils, whose colors are royal blue and white. Depending on what side of the fence you're on, that's a good vs. evil battle, too.

But the Blue Devils are good. The Tar Heels are evil. Just so you know.

But I digress.

On the matter of my intentions (again): I could have just joined and, instead of engaging, lurked. I still could have sussed out whatever info I wanted/needed, I'm sure. I chose not to, not because I'm looking for a fight or I get my jollies out of winding people up.

I save THAT for my friends who are UNC Tarheel fans. Because they deserve nothing less.

I can see a fairly easy opportunity to take the piss out of the UNCT fans....

Oh, I'm already on my way to learning who to take with more than just A grain of salt.

Go Ducks!

Well, I am definitely looking forward to catching the next one. I just hope I'm not stuck at work and miss it. They kinda frown on watching football matches while you're supposed to be working. Pretty much frown on doing ANYTHING else when you're supposed to be working. Which is why most of the writing notes I make while I'm working look like hieroglyphics.

I am about 2 1/2 hrs south and east, near the coast and the SC border. The Triangle (Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill) is nice, but the traffic is horrid.

And, not to be overly picky, but . . . Jenn or Jennifer is fine. Jenny was my nickname when I was little. I go through this with lots of people. Don't feel bad.
