We've had little time since Coutts was injured to train, with a mid-week game. Little time for Lundstram to get used to his role and for players to get used to him.

Now we've got a free week we can work on this, with some of the best coaching staff in the league. We should look better against Millwall.

They need to figure out who is meant to go out and put pressure on The guy running towards our box with the ball at his feet. In open play, there's a general confusion between the 3 CBs, which means a costly delay in closing down. From set-pieces, presumably it would be a midfielder.

Keeper should spot that danger early and be screaming at defenders to close down

Jamals a bit quiet isn't he ?

True, but one of them still needs to decide who is rushing out. He's a bit inexperienced to give him that decision-making power. He is too quiet, but that's understandable I guess. Although, he's entirely too calm to be a shouter.

They should spend the time on ‘set’ movement in the penalty area when WE cross the ball into the opponents box. (run’s front post, back post etc.) also breaking down teams when they ‘park the bus’ I’m sure they already do work on this but it ain’t working!

I think there's a general pattern forming where teams are trying to exploit O'Connell getting forward by having some run down the inside right channel.

City had trouble with this today so we are in good company

But he can’t afford to be so quiet, whatever his personality, if you’re a goalkeeper, being vocal is an important component of an essential skill set. I think the calamity at QPR was down to Blackmans lack of communication, possibly CCV backpass too. Not sure it was his job to tell a crowded penalty area to close a player down on the edge of the box though.
Possibly it’s slow decision making, due to players playing out of position, think Baldock would have reacted quicker and his abscence is a big loss to our style of play at a time we’re having to adapt to Coutts loss too.

The biggest thing we can do this week is get Baldock fit and ready.

100% agree, whilst I do like Basham and everything he does for the team, he's not a right wing back and thats massively effected our attacking play recently. Also think we're better with Bash at right center back in terms of defensive reliability and playing out.

Get Baldock back, Lundstrum playing a little quicker and with more confidence and hopefully we can go on and get a run of 10 points out of the next 5 games to set us up nicely for the 2nd half of the season.

When did all the posters saying Jamal is quiet play with/against him?

You can see he isn’t communicating like Simon Moore does, unless of course he’s an accomplished ventriloquist

or psychic.

Never looks flustered though. When we play the “pass it round the penalty area game” instead of hoof he’s the calmest man in the ground

After reflection and speaking to some neutrals I think we just need to relax a tad. 2 neutrals commented that we battered them but why were we not getting crosses in the box, and when they did they were poor.

We need to work on getting crosses off quicker and ensuring a striker gets across the front post.

It was Fleck who was too slow in closing down for Birmingham’s goal on Saturday.
