A very sad day for all Blades

Beech - correct re Blackwell and long-ball. Adams hasn't really lied to us yet about performances, about being skint whilst signing £3m development players, so he's still massively preferable to Blackwell for me - and a few of the home games have been watchable it has to be said. Problems are (and he inherited Cresswell I know) I still see Adams would pick Cresswell, Doyle, Monty over a pacey/talented young kid - because he can trust the solid pro etc etc. This might be true, I know it aint easy and he obviously needs results, but as someone who wants to see somat a bit different it is not the way in an ideal world I want to see us managed. I believe other clubs have shown that young, hungry talent can become the basis of a decent second tier side.

What I didn't expect was to be bottom of the table under Adams. Relegation hadn't seriously crossed my mind when he was appointed - I was sick at the prospect of him being with us in 2nd tier and the thought of him managing us in 3rd tier is virtually unbearable - my opinion is that footballing sides do well in that section and with Doyle and probably Monty there is no hope. The issue at hand was the comments by Birch about building from the Academy up being blown out of the water by the appointment of Adams and subsequently Bassett.

I can't argue there Mic, some solid points made, Cressy has been dross all season, Doyle, was better saturday but still nothing great, I don't think a partnership of Monty or Doyle is the way to go, they're too similar, I don't share your view totally on Monty, as we all have differing opininons. I don't think anyone expected to be bottom, I want more fight from the players, more desire (but I don't think we have to just stop thinking about the game and run round like headless chickens, something that can happen), a fair few have shown it under Adams but there are also too many below the grade.

I'm a youth coach albeit at grassroots level at the moment but I'm a big believer in development in this area and feel as yourself and many others that we need to be braver and use the development squad or the youth squad more, they maybe far more hungry than a few who have pulled on the shirt this season. But getting that balance of youth and experience needs to be right and I can understand him relying on old season pro's as well, but one thing he shares with Warnock and Blackwell is his resilence to still pick players under performing. Thanks for the reply, we are all agree there need to be changes somewhere and I think those changes have to come from higher than Adams first, whether its in approach or personnel.

Good post mic. You and I dont always see eye to eye, but I enjoy reading stuff like this. Some good arguments there.

Stop stirring you naughty monkey :D

Not at all!? ;) Mic has proved he is a balanced poster (above) and I think this thread deserves credit and I told you so status. I am actually endangering some of my big hitting threads (Monty loyalty) as this is not far behind in no of posts :p
