A Tough September

All those games will be tough for our opponents, let's focus on that not the other way round.
Exactly my thoughts when we played Boro & Luton. At times last season when Forest, Blackburn (first half), B’Mouth, Huddersfield turned up to our ground I thought they’re a decent team who will be up there.

That’s what we will be against others, even if they beat us they’ll know they had a tough game.

Looks a very tough month, for Hull, Rotherham, Swansea and Preston 👍

AGREE.

August was definitely tougher than September and we're sat top of the league.

A pattern that seems to be forming is that EVERY home match generally becomes easy.
Where as EVERY away match becomes difficult. We really need to sort out our away form and try to be more positive.

The way we're playing, the opposition will be worrying more about us than we should be of them.

Not to say that we arrogantly turn up and think the game's already won but when you think of how many goals we've been scoring, it's on us to go there and win, not go there and try not to lose.

It's still 11 v 11 wherever it is and we've proven that we're more than a match for the teams we've faced so far so there's no reason why we shouldn't be able to beat such footballing behemoths as Hull, Preston or Swansea on their own patch.

Hull - W - momentum from last night
Rovrum - W - we will be too strong at home
Swansea - W - Swans look really poor, first win there for many years
Preston - D - can't score, don't concede, will cancel each other out

If we are a serious promotion side, then these are run of the mill Championship games we should be picking up a minimum of 8 points from.

Not saying it will be easy or we should underestimate them, but it’s average Championship teams we should be better than.

We've undoubtedly had an excellent start to the season and there's much to be excited about. There's a buzz about the place. Rightly so after a great August.

Next up is a tough September featuring three away games and just the one home game. We have...

Hull (A) - Currently 7th after mixed results but secured decent home wins against Norwich and Coventry, plus a draw at Burnley. Have a danger man in Estupinian who is on 7 for the season already. Will be looking to bounce back from a 3-1 loss tonight.

Rov'rum (H) - Usually a comfortable win but the Millers have had a cracking start to their season. Undefeated at the time of writing. They'll be looking to give us a proper game.

Swansea (A) - midweek trip to South Wales where we haven't won since 1958...

Preston (A) - desperate for goals and wins but clearly hard to break down. Haven't conceded a goal in the league so far this season.

Think this next month will be an early test of our promotion credentials and a chance for us to answer the questions which have emerged over our away form. But it won't be easy and it has the potential to bring us down to earth a bit if we only have one win for the whole month (that's presuming we continue the home form and beat Rotherham which I'm fairly confident we'll do).

Time to step it up a gear and take the style and swagger of the Bramall Lane performances on the road.

My points return prediction:

Hull (A) - L
Rotherham (H) - W
Swansea (A) - D (I actually think we'll win this, but I'm erring on the side of caution)
Preston (A) - D

Points: 5

Bring it on!
How about 9 out of 9 with 3 clean sheets ? 🥰

Yeah but let's start worrying about October and November and....... 🙄

Fucking love it, mate.

I was worried, but we've smashed it in style. We've ground out wins in difficult places to go through sheer hard work and a sprinkling of quality. I actually think that considering Rotherham's form, that might have been our most difficult match of the month, but we play so well at home that we'd still have come away with the points. It's 9 from 9 instead of 12 from 12 but I'm alright with that!

Yup. 11 games in six weeks after this international break. There's a lot to worry about. We ain't going to get everything going our way all season. It's how we persist when the challenges come which will define our season.

There are no run of the mill games in this division, move your legs-footballs nummer one, Preston got tired today.. its hard work in the bottom line,on top of that we have some very good players at this level. A good rest with hopefully all internationals returning unscatched. UTB
