I'm sat watching MOTD and have already seen Derry, Jags,Cahill, Kenny and Naughton and it made me wonder if there are enough ex blades to make a full premiership team at the moment? In my wine induced haze I can currently come up with...

GK - Kenny
Def - Walker
Def - De Laet
Def - Jags
Def - Cahill
Mid - Derry
Mid - Naughton
Mid - Dyer
Mid - Tonge
For - Hulse
For - Beattie

Defence is ok, but the midfield/forwards could struggle!

I've picked just such a team in the Telegraph Fantasy Football League.
Craig Beattie is classed as a midfielder by them, so I had to include Kevin Davies in order to get the minimum two strikers.
You could also have Bardsley, Britton, Cotterill and Craddock.

In the real world my team would be:-
Kenny
Walker Jagielka Cahill Naughton
Cotterill Britton Derry Tonge Dyer
Hulse
Subs:- Bardsley, Craddock, De Laet, C.Beattie

Where in the table do you think such a team would finish? I think a struggle at the bottom end.

How many of those are proper Premier League-class players? Walker, Cahill (who was only a loan, playing 16 times) and of course Jags. They are more than capable of sustained top0flight careers. The rest aren't. Especially De Laet, who wouldn't make it into most Fantasy Shit XIs because he's not that good.

I'd say Kenny is also a proper PL player, but I'd agree with you as to the rest.

The thought of Craig Beattie in the PL is hilarious.

Hulse isn't the player he was either. Tonge although did ok for us, isn't a premier league player now either

Naughton looked pretty good for Norwich on Saturday, albeit on MOTD highlights. I think he's certainly Premiership class.

Was at Stamford Bridge on a freebie. I thought Naughton had a generally decent game. Oh how I wish he was still playing for us.

i don't suppose they'd give a shit looking at our current position
