John Ebbrell ex-Everton captain came with a big reputation. I think he played 1 game for us. He got a job coaching at Tranmere recently. One of the posts above reminded me of a cruel Celtic chant I heard about ...

Also reminds me of the man utd chant about Tim Howard (when he played for them)
"my old man said be a goalkeeper, I said fuck off, bollocks, you're a cunt."

Look him up on wikipedia if you don't get it...

>I think he played 1 game for us
umm half a game AFAIR .. he went off at half time.. irony is that he was really good in the half he 'actually' played

SEB hates him that much, he gave him two positions in his line up.

:D

Stupid arse!

As for Revs comments, it's all opinion and I was going on the premise of how they played at their peak compared with how they were in a Blades shirt. I agree McNaught was not close to being the worst player in that 'old farts 11', but I needed a sub and he never got close to the quality he showed at Villa. As for Mortimer, it was a toss-up between him and a few others and none of them were ever as good as he was as captain of that championship winning side of 1980-81, so he fell furthest IMO. As others have said, the biggest fall was 'wee Jimmy' who went from football god at Celtic Park to football clod at BDTBL.

john ebbrell, thats the guy ive been trying to think of for ages. didnt he cost about a million, played a couple of games, then retired? good player, just didnt have any knees. Thought he had a few good games for us, so he's more of a disappointment than a flop

He played the first half at home to Reading. That's all. And yes, it was £1m.
