A sobering thought

Yes and they don’t have carehomes in every village where they can put them because we cannot be bothered to look after our own ageing population.
They have proper lockdowns which means lockdown not stop in watch telly a bit then f**k off out and call in and see yer mates and all there families. Get car out and have a run art to shops 4 times a day and have another chat.
Round our end the self employed construction / building and plumbing have been busier than f*****g normal . We have a small D.I.Y shop and the best count was 15 white 54 plate vans stood out side at 7.45 all congregating waiting for it to open .
That’s why we have more deaths than our last home game. Rant over and will deffo upset somebody . Can hear the can of worms opening now.
And who is to blame for that? The government tone has been clear, "stay at home", but the actual message is "try to stay at home but go to the vast amount of supermarkets and corner shops that will remain open as long as you can keep your distance."

Not to mention that some folk in this country will do their best to flout the rules because, you know, that's what this country does best. If it says 'wet paint' we just have to touch it.

If this government wanted us to stop in, they would have made us. They haven't.

Also, were the only country in the world that hasn't closed its borders and isn't testing new arrivals at airports.
That's why it's spreading!
It's not spreading it's falling quickly
Our problem is it's a virus that kills a lot of old people in crowded areas . We have a lot of old people in an over crowded island
France have only 2m less people but is 4 times the land area of UK so can socially distance easier.

We do put our old people in homes more.
Spain has a care home population of 155000 we have one of 465000.
Vulnerable over 70s in groups of 50 to 70 are this viruses hunting grounds.
300000 more at high risk than spain

For balance Italy's population, although smaller, is also older than ours which goes some way to evening out their 'advantage'.
Italy is 20k sq miles bigger than UK and the old mainly stay at home . Not many are stuffed in care homes. Families think of care homes being safe but this virus could change that thinking

But don't most of them still live in towns and cities with the same sort of flats and streets and shops thar we have?
The towns may be further away from each other but inside them it's just as crowded.

It’s really not. We’d have had to shut up shop in January for that to work as a tactic. Internal transmission took over from imports very quickly. Cat no longer in bag.
Plus we had far more flight movements to China than nearly every other country. We have more Chinese students in Sheffield than other countries get from China in year

Put a cup of rice in a. Box shake it about and see how seperate the rice is . Put the same amount in a box. 4 times bigger and see how close all the rice is.

The towns and cities may be 4 times further apart in France, but within them people are in just as close proximity as in uk towns and cities.

Cummings himself said “if some pensioners die then too bad”. The lock down has largely been window dressing. They were going with herd immunity until the weight of public opinion went against it.

They still are going for herd immunity but slower

Cummings who wanted the lockdown introduced sooner. Like many on here wanted as well.

For me the key thing about the OP is that it gives me a picture of what the death toll looks like to date.
I’ve shouted at the telly this week over meaningless comparisons of America’s covid19 death toll against numbers lost in Vietnam war. That’s meaningless marketing type stuff more to do with the emotion of the numbers.
What 1973 has done is make it real.

Also the UK is much more crowded than the vast majority of countries meaning it is much easier for the virus to spread but of course it doesn’t suit the MSM narrative to mention that. 😡 UTB
South Korea is a good comparator.... Similar population size and density to the uk....but given how effective it has been in tackling the virus and keeping its population alive... That doesn't fit some peoples agenda either..... Just saying......in the interests of balance...

Why is REMOVED in Sheffield wearing them then?
They make them and get paid for promoting them

Someone said to me the other day why did they call all the emergency hospitals nightingale.... a nurse who never wore one piece of ppt in her lifetime
