What's wrong with that?
They smoke.

I think SUFC should give a thought to having a smoking section, maybe next to a singing section, then there's a standing section to be accommodated.
Easy solution, rip out all the seats and build a BIG fuckin' terrace behind the goal. Then all three are catered for. Is there a section for disabled smokers too?
The club should be very aware NOT to discriminate against anyone!

As well as no smoking PL rules state that no terracing is allowed and you can't stand in your seat.

I think that the club would be happy designating, say, half of the area by the John St kop entrance / bar as a smoking area. But SUFC is the Premer Legue's bitch now.

I find it a disgusting smelly habit and rejoice at the day it was banned in pubs, clubs etc.

But if pubs and offices can have smokers sheds, I don't see why Football grounds can't make similar arrangements, particularly at BL where there are parts of the ground behind the stands that are open air.

Can't we all just be reasonable and accommodating with each other?

Those saying this rule will be ignored and "I'll do it anyway" should really think about the repercussions before they start blowing clouds of perfumed smoke from their seat. The stewards or the people around you won't have to enforce this rule and tell you to stop, your seat number can just be reported to the club who can verify you were doing it via the cameras they have in the ground.

I hated having to put up with the nonsense of smelling custard cream flavoured vape every 2 minutes last season. Those saying it doesn't affect other people around them are just being ignorant, for non-smokers/vapers it's fucking annoying.
Straw man alert!

Nobody is advocating vaping in the seats.

It’s reay easy to solve isn’t it?

Unfortunately, as smoking was rightly driven into controlled areas, it gave momentum to the anti smoking nazis who refuse to stop pushing the line.

The clean air argument being the most hypocritical. The vast majority of smokers just want their own area, away from others. Most anti-smoking nazis are happy to drive gas guzzling cars in built up areas (as I do), and yet preach to us about clean air.

I don't smoke personally but to stop supporters from smoking, in open areas well away from the remaining non-smoking public, is pretty ridiculous really.
Kind of guessing there'll be 'laws' coming in soon where you're not allowed to smoke in beer gardens too?
And then there'll be further 'laws' in time that'll then prevent smokers from smoking on footpaths adjacent Beer Gardens as this then effects other general public as they use the footpath . . . . . . . .

How does using flavours equate to marketing to children? Have you ever seen a cocktail menu?

And it's kind of a given that vaping is "bad" for you in some way. Nicotine isn't good for you, there are certain flavourings that probably aren't good for you. All I'd say is talk to anyone who switched to an e-cig and ask them if they feel better for leaving the fags behind.

Meanwhile we've got an obesity crisis and a current public campaign about how obesity causes cancer too. We've got a culture of unhealthy levels of drinking, which causes cancer too along with the huge costs of the associated anti-social behaviour.

We all engage in unhealthy behaviours all the time. And, to the extent that we're part of society, our choices have an impact on those around us. We all draw a line somewhere on what risks we tolerate and that line is ultimately arbitrary. All I'm saying is I find it more than a little annoying that the sodding Premier League feels the need to take this intrisically paternalistic attitude towards fans who want to smoke out in the open air in a designated area.
The Premier League will ban masterbation next in case the person next to you goes blind.

Honestly I think vapists are worse than smokers.

Fucking massive clouds of opal fruit smoke suffocating me every 5 seconds.

Yeah, it's not carcinogenic but that's all its got going for it. The fact that it's a fucking hobby now, Christ.

Grown adults raving about their own vape juice blends and how they've got a new coil so they can do even bigger clouds.

Gets right on my tits.
every five seconds?? what, do you stand in the middle of groups of vapers to get your kicks??
i vape as it is a good way of coming of the cigarettes and is 95 % safer according to the British Heart Foundation. Cigarettes are notoriously difficult to crack. perhaps some of you might want to show a bit of support for people trying to crack the habit of a lifetime instead of posting childish comments based upon fashion preferences?
perhaps they will bring in 'no trainers' next or ban beer. it is all part of the gentrification of football

1. Get in touch with the Premier League and ask them to implement a rule regarding supporter personal hygiene.
2. You do know when you buy a ticket your details are on the ticket office computer system?
3. So you're not going to sit in your designated seat? Good luck finding a spare seat next season, might be a few spare in the Kop Corner where you can see about 10% of the pitch.
1. Yeah that's realistic
2. Not everyone gets their tickets through the normal channels
3. Never heard of 2 to a seat? Or standing with the congregation at the back of the Kop, or standing next to the wall dividing the South Stand and BLUT Corner?

Most anti-smoking nazis are happy to drive gas guzzling cars in built up areas (as I do), and yet preach to us about clean air.

Really? Most “anti-smoking nazis” I know are interested in action that protects public health from both tobacco and high pollutant vehicles.

So am I correct in assuming that Mr Sanctimonious here doesn't drive a car which blows more toxins into the atmosphere on a single journey to the Lane than a smoker is going to blow passively in his direction in probably a whole season at the back of the kop!
Hi dickhead. No I dont drive, I cycle to work. My choice. Also my choice not to breathe in smoke from fat bellends. If more people ditched the car and walked, cycled more there would be less fat bellends. Ok bellend?

How do they get on in beer gardens? Ask the landlord to tell the naughty smokers to stop smoking because it's ruining their experience? People do stuff in life that other people don't like, you move away from them
You can move away from someone at a match who is smoking near you.

*can't.
Its pathetic that grown adults cant wait until after the game for a fag. Like the losers who smoke while taking their kids to school. Pathetic.

Do they do Hendos flavour vape fluid?
If they don't they're missing a trick there...Maybe with Pie flavour too.
I don't smoke any more, but to be fair there must be somewhere they could go?I know what people are saying that it's unpleasant to have to walk through it (and to be fair, walking past someone with their vaping stick doing an impression of The Mallard at full chat isn't great, especially if it's Melon and Bacon flavour or whatever the fuck theyre toking through it) but surely there must be a compromise. Because otherwise it's going to cause problems when people spark up and we get the stewards wading in to stop em (and people WILL try and smoke, it's daft to think they won't) there'll be lairyness all round and people getting lobbed out. Think there has to be a bit of slack cut somewhere.
Or maybe I'm wrong and we should just ban it completely and all just do Meth before the match.

Well you can can't you. For example I sit on South stand and smoke at the ends where it's uncovered, if people walk through a cloud of smoke while entering/exiting that's no different to walking past someone having a cig in the street

Its fckin selfish from you and its going against what the club had asked you to do. Child.

it's vapour not smoke. be careful next time you boil a kettle mate. you might dissolve :)
do they still open the gates at HT? if so people like me could wander outside onto John Street and come back in again?

What about nicotine inhalers? If you're going to ban vaping, surely they should be banned too. It's the same principle isn't it?

And surely we can't be far off banning women's perfume.

You know different ones to me then.

There weren’t many in this thread who stepped in to tell us about how they prioritise low fuel emissions over their penis extensions either :)

But think of the passers by on John Street. And what if that condensate lands on them and is carried into the family home?

It could be like a scene from 28 days later!

I stopped smoking 14 years ago but, if people wanna light up at HT at back of kop of even down near exits they're hurting no one. I know United have to be seen complying with PL rules but what next no farting? I hope they turn a blind eye as especially on kop if stewards try lobbing folk out, could end up with a slap.

It will be interesting to see what happens at ht in the 1st game at exit of the south stand when 5 security staff try to stop 500 fans smoking/vaping

Banning smoking and vaping in the ground is a good thing. I just hope it’s enforced properly. The number of people who smoke in the family stand toilets, with all the young kids in there, is pathetic. Surely they can refrain for a couple of hours.

Surely they can refrain for a couple of hours.

How many people have asked this question so far? Yes of course smokers can go withut nicotine for two hours, but would very much prefer not to, especially when they're out in the open air, supping beer at half time in a tense game.

No one's advocating smoking in the bogs of the family stand, or anywhere else apart from the traditional open air smoking areas.

Unfortunately for the smokers/vapers it’s tough shit! It’s a Premier League rule and the fact that the Kop and South Stand have open air areas doesn’t matter to the Premier League.

So the choice for the smokers/vapers is to wait until they leave the Lane to smoke/vape or don’t go to matches.
