Spend the money improving the Kop Bar and bogs rather than implementing more and more draconian policies. If we want Bramall Lane rough and ready you’ve got to accept a few sharp edges.

Any non-enclosed area in the ground will be smokefree owing to the PL rules, but any enclosed area is smokefree by law. Regulatory officers could quite easily hold the club account for say the lack of compliance in the John Street bogs, particularly if this has been raised with the club and little effort has been made to resolve the issue. In fact repeated non-compliance can result in legal proceedings against the club. There’s nothing new about that – it’s been law since July 2007 now. There are no laws preventing vaping in enclosed spaces, but it’s well within the remit of premises to decide on their own policy.

As mentioned before, the concourse covering proposed by the Kop redevelopment plans may, depending on design, mean those areas would suddenly be covered by the smokefree law too.
