Being done 5 is harsh, McG's chance and the one where he could have fed Brewster could have made it a different game.
Also, we were open to the counter as we tried to force things 2nd half, which played into their hands.

Feel the need to vent! This is the 3rd time this year we've gone into a game with a chance to move off the bottom. All 3 games were against beatable opposition & had previous half decent performances been replicated we'd have moved up a place. But no - again - and again - opportunity for the players to claw back some professional pride & give the team a sliver of hope in the battle to avoid relegation missed. Even though it's still a mathematical possibility we could avoid the drop you have to say, given the missed opportunities, this team have got no chance of staying up. Roll on the Championship.

Had our chances today but were undone by a couple of poor defensive mistakes and not taking our chances. Struggled down our right hand side due to an inept, half assed performance from Lundstram and a clearly struggling Baldock ( this was expected). Bogle was attempting to do two people's jobs so it is hard to be too critical. We were on top for quite a lot of the second half, but when we went gungho we lost all momentum and got picked off on the break. You can have ten strikers on the pitch, it matters nought if you can't get the ball to them. If you don't take your chances and give poor goals away you'll be exposed at this level. I was pleased with the contribution of Brewster - he put himself about and looked a threat.

Grey I understand the point mate but ALL the midfield are fit and ALL the strikers are fit, so why the fuck couldn't we create anything worthy of note in the entire game?

Surely if you have an effective midfield and forward line but your defence is decimated you might expect to lose 5-3 maybe, but another strike-out with absolutely naff all going forwards is nothing to do with injured centre-backs

In the words of Jim Morrison, this is the end. And as much as you don't want to happen, the next few months are looking like they're going to be Chris & Alan's last hurrah, as I just have a feeling neither are going to be here come August. It's just a toss up between whether they'll fall on their own swords, or the sword come down on them from high.

But if we do change manager, then the next appointment is absolutely crucial to the future success of the club. No journeyman gaffers, honest toilers, or those looking for a final payday. We may have to look outside of the UK, or across the rest of the pyramid for someone who can bring something new to the table.

As for the team, wholesale changes are needed from top to bottom. There are too many players showing too little quality, and one in particular, that is the most uninterested player I've seen in a Red & White shirt since Barry Hayles brief spell. Wonder if you can guess who he is. Needless to say, he looks like he'd anywhere than playing for United, and even though we've paid through the nose for him, I'd quite happily drive back to his old club for the price of the petrol money.

If you remember the season after the triple assault, we looked a shadow of what we had the previous season, and there's that famous clip of Warnock in the dressing room after the Millwall match. He touches on the fact on the number of games we tossed away and that how he would bring players in to stop us being the soft touch the following season...



The same has to occur again now. It's going to be a long way back, but it's nothing we haven't seen or experienced previously. We need those involved to excite, to fight, to show passion, flair and quality and to give everything for the shirt and the badge. That should be instilled into every single player that walks through the door, and should be the minimum expectancy. Maybe we need to look at our youth set up and see who's ready to make the step up to the big league. If they're old enough, they may be good enough, but for god's sake, give them the opportunity to come through, instead of letting them go for nothing, only to come back and hurt us later in their career.

Pre season between May and August is going to be a very interesting, maybe turbulent period, but heigh-ho, it's the Blades way.

Guys I really can't agree with comments about Brewster playing well and "putting himself about". The record says he didn't assist, he didn't score. He played one lovely pass for Didsy to his credit, but otherwise he was just another player running about a bit.

We so desperately want the kid to be our next superstar that we're projecting our rose-tints onto his every performance. In the end, just like almost everyone else, he was inneffective. Che Adams showed our strikers how to do it. Again.

Only saying 5 DN as Southampton had at least 3 clear chances that they should have put away easily in the second half .

I think the reason we didn't create anything of note is that sadly we're just not good enough. We didn't create masses of chances last season but with a solid defense we could afford to afford to take our few chances because we didn't give much away.

This season has been a catalogue of defensive errors - not always by defenders either and again today the second goal followed a poor attempted clearance when a good hoof would have been more effective. In the circumstances I thought the defenders played reasonably well today and Bryan had a good game and managed to get into one or two decent attacking positions, but we do miss O'Connell and Basham both defensively and pushing forward.
