Has McCabe gifted any money to the Blades and written it off ? if so how much?

I think he has loaned plenty of money and written none off. He's now having some paid back, with interest no doubt, as we found out other day.

I don't think many chairman actually just write a cheque out and say forget it. Many will write cheques out with a good idea they will never see it again but McCabe has always had a profit on his mind imo - which is understandable. I don't expect chairmen to fork out their own wedge but I'm uncomfortable with the ones who do it just for profit. I aint saying McCabe is solely interested in profit and I suppose only way he could profit was if we are in Prem when he sells (which of course we'd all be delighted with so no problem) - unfortunately that is not going to happen anytime soon so he is desperately trying to get as much back as he can now - esp since Valad has gone pop basically for time being.

He is useless at the one key thing for chairmen - picking the right manager.

Didn't he pick Warnock - made the Prem, most clubs don't so I guess most Chairman are failures. God what a depressing view of life.

Here is the question again:

He's only really picked one bad manager though if you look at win percentage.

where can i read the story about mccabe getting some money back? i remember he loaned the club at higher than base rate when the banks werent lending... did us a favour in some ways but still took his % of flesh all the same. im pretty sure his involvement with valad has led to him becoming their majority shareholder too?

you can look at win percentages and stats to prove how good a manager is or isn't but you can only really go on whats happening now at at the minute

we are 11th and falling behind the top 2 and it is hard to see where our next win in coming from with some tricky games coming up and our squad been so thin on the ground.

Yeah it's not looking pretty at the moment but surely it can only get better! :)

I dont know the answer BB, I would suspect non, would you or any of us invest any of our childrens inheritance in something a unstable as a football club. An industry with over paid players and an administration getting fat on the backs of TV money and supporters hard earned cash?

I am sure though he has invested plenty of his time for little or no reward to himself.

Only 2 of the top 6 and 4 of the top half of the table won on Saturday. We are no further behind top then we were before Saturday.

He has said in past interviews that he has invested his own money. No doubt the bulk of the loans etc is money from Scarborough Investment or whatever they're called these days, but indirectly, that is also his money.

Just checking the latest odds and we're no worse off as far as the bookies are concerned than we have been since the start of the season, around 14/1 for the title and 7/2 for promotion.

Blackpool @ 6/4 tomorrow looks good :-(

Incidentally, Blackwell is currently joint 10th favourite @ 16s to be the next Chumpionship manager to lose his job if anyone thinks it's likely.

I doubt it, what sort of idiot would do that? Now can we get to the real reason you asked the question please?

so you don't know ? .......... a rich Blades idiot wud do it.

I asked the question because i am not certain of the answer. (although i'm pretty certain)..... but the again i might not be so sure

How much in % terms does McCabe control of issued shares ? , i've forgot.

Somewhere between 75% and 80% I believe although I am not sure what the share structure of the club is now we have de-listed. Perhaps you (or someone else) could enlighten me.. There was a threshold passed (75%?) that enabled him to de-list from the stock exchange but I'm not sure of the effect this had on the total ownership.

The reason for de-listing was that it was costly to remain listed on AIM (what with all the administrative rules to adhere to) and he was in a position to make an offer for the shares he needed to take him over the threshold to de-list. He made an offer to shareholders and it was accepted by shareholders. He also paid a significant (in percentage terms) amount over the odds to those shareholders to buy their shares. If I remember rightly, the shares were trading at about 5p and he offered 8p although someone may be able to provide the exact figures.

But we are 7 points instead of 4 points away from an automatic promotion place.

I don't think he personally picked Warnock. At the time Derek Dooley had recently been made football club chairman and Bernard Procter PLC chairman.
I suspect it was a jointly made decision between several club officials.

As would have been appointing Sornob if you go by that argument.

No. The point I'm making is that I don't think McCabe had the same degree of ownership and control over the club that he has now.

Procter succeeded McDonald as PLC chairman, and Dooley became football club chairman, and therefore would have had a casting vote in any football club matters. McCabe remained as a board member having stepped down from the position of football club chairman.

Seems like you have an opinion but want support on it - or maybe not.
you seem to be obsessed with 2 men - or maybe 1.
Can i ask what percentage of you wants Blackwell to succeed or Mccabe to succeed?
