All things considered, he was excellent in an uncomfortable position for him yesterday.
Solid, unspectacular but defended well and regularly found his man with simple passes.
Even managed a couple of his crazy dribbles without mishap.
He's one of the attractions about watching United at the moment, you never know what might happen but can't help warming to him.

Agree with that mostly. He even put in a few cracking crosses, Just dont tell ballin because he thought he put every pass wrong.

I thought the same and everyone around me was saying that he was the worst player to ever play at BDTBL - He looked quite comfortable in a position that he obviously hasn't played in much throughout his career.

Definately one of the better players on Saturday and was at times the only player who looked like he was trying to attack and get in to the opposition half. I'm by no means a big fan of his, the clangers that happen every match just make him too much of a liability for me but credit where credit is due he had a good game this weekend.

Trouble is that he is so inconsistant.......for every Ipswich.Forest and Hull matches there are games where he wouldn't get a game in Greaves Park.

The best central defensive partnership in a game this season for me was Noz and Bartley at Forest and I hope GS reverts to this as Ertl isn't quick enough.

I reckon Bartley could be a solid defender if playing alongside another solid CB - however with the players he has been playing with we just don't look solid and Simmo doesn't fill us with confidence so the back four must be aware of this as well.

Are we talking about Nosworthy? If so it just further increases by believe that me and Len watch different games.

Yup, he had a good solid game.
I like Nozza. Limited ability but a trier and stood up to be counted yesterday in an unfamiliar position after a lot of recent criticism.
The sort of attitude a certain other player you made a fool of yourself over could do with.

I'm with Len on this. Nosworthy and Lowton, for me, were the only bright sparks yesterday. Ward was atrocious, yet no one around me seemed to notice, but Nosworthy makes one bad pass (probably his only bad pass of the day) and they are baying for his blood.

I agree although if Lawton had reacted quicker he was best placed to prevent both goals.
We play Nosroulette ,guessing which direction the ball will go when it hits his head.

I thought there were several players who were far worse than Nosworthy yesterday - Ward, Cresswell, Ertl, Simonsen & Montgomery spring to mind.

NO NO NO NO NO NO N!!!

HES AWFUL!!! GOD AWFUL I TELL YOU!!

he cant pass, he cant head, he has one foot, he is clumsy and the whole of bramall lane groans in dispair whenever the ball goes to/near him.

please guys, come on, he is SHITE!!!!!

It was one of his better games for sure. I do get scared when he does his Cruyff turns in the 18 yard box though,i'm sure a bus has a shorter turning area

Nos has lots going for him. Fairly quick, strong and can tackle.

If only he could kick (or head) it straight and cut out the brain freezes he'd be immense.

One thing that does trouble me is whether he'd take the risks he does for us playing for Sunderland.

Agree about Nozzer, thought he was good on Saturday and thought he was alright against Coventry too. He makes a better full back that centre half. Mainly because he gets a bit further up the pitch where it's less of a concern when he's trying to skin their players with his silky skills.

I thought Quinny was probably the best player on Saturday, though I know that's like swearing to most Blades nowadays. He was involved in most of our best passing moves, made good use of the ball, covered a lot of ground but in a useful fashion and took his goal well. More of that from him please.

I wonder how comfortable Morgs would have been at left back.
I doubt anyone could envisage that being anything other than a car crash.
Well done Nozza.
And as also mentioned Quinn was one of the better players again on Saturday.

There are a few simple rules to playing in defence which good defenders will have engrained in their head by the time they are around 10 years old.

dont fuck around in your own box.
if in doubt, put it out.
when clearing the ball, do so high and wide

3 laws of the defending that old Nyron seems to flaunt far too regularly for me.

If we are to stop the rot, we must first stop conceding. Unfortunatley, i cant see as we'll do that until we have better, more consistent footballers in the back 4.

And now Morgs is out we've gone from needing 3 new defenders to 4. Oh, and we have no money (or at least no desire to spend any) to buy any with.

Bad times.

Nosworthy scares me to death whenever he gets the ball at his feet but you can't deny that he had a great game on Saturday. Main problem for me at the weekend was that nobody consistently won the first ball until the 2nd half - Ertl and Bartley seemed to be waiting for each other to do it and then went for the same balls. Bartley is good on the ground but needs to play behind a strong, aerially dominant partner.

Nozza did indeed do OK out of position - however his being so one-footed completely nullified the left side as an outlet for much of the game. Rather than being able to make a run to let the ball run across him and push it down the line he was having to face the ball and have it played into feet. He was OK once the game was ahead of him, but there was no way that we could move the ball forward through the full-back on the left.

Horses for courses, I know. The one time he did use his left foot he delivered an exquisite cross, so I can't be too critical.

The main problem with Nos is his consistent inconsistency. He can be excellent and terrible, and often withen the same three seconds and three yards. He's capable of looking like both Lionel Messi and Lionel Blair. The truly entertaining thing about him is that he offers absolutely no clue whatsoever which one you're going to get. Against Ipswich we saw a lot more of the Good Nozza than the Bad Nozza, but there were flashes to give us those now-familiar buttock-clenching moments of panic.

I do agree though that he's done well covering three of the back four positions. What's he like in goal?

He can guarantee you a couple of laughs a game, that's for sure, but usually with some hysteria added! And at least a couple of hands on the head in despair moments too. Our most entertaining player for years. I too thought he had a good game Saturday.
