A few things that need to go

Good pundits knew the signings Wilder made and still predicted we'd finish top 3.

All said the league was weak and our squad and manager should be enough to challenge top 2.

Blaming Wilder is just deluded.
They were right, the league is weak. I don’t think there can be any denying that the league is very weak. Fulham and Bournemouth look good - but then the play off sides, Coventry, Blackpool, Huddersfield...

Some of the games we’ve lost or failed to win have been such poor quality, and we’ve been the architects of our own downfall

Can't help thinking if we'd got west broms manager we'd be flying now

This league is very much void of real quality this season, with only Fulham and Bournemouth having any.

No its not deluded

CW has wasted the war chest we had - his signings in the premier have been dire and we have - or he has- wasted the best chance we will probably ever have of consolidating ourselves in the top division .

Hi planning of the squad and the utilisation of funds was totally appalling

He gave us the opportunity and we will always be grateful but my god he messed up good and proper

He had a back bone of players to build on - he bleats on about competing with wages - we all knew we couldn't compete with the wages offered by our rivals as wages are weekly cash flow which Utd couldn't absorb - so a good manager builds on the foundations with experience and consolidates until the funds afforded by the Premier league enable us to move to the next level

He got it wrong on so many levels its unbelievable - totally unbelievable - look at WBA , Fulham and Bournemouth and compare them to where we are .

We are light years away and Wilder blew it - fact

Maybe the same pundits who had us to go down in bottom position our first season back in the premier
The same ones who predicted a mid table finish last season in the. Prem
Some people do write some crap
And some people are proper journalists who understand the sport better than most of us. They had us top 3 n'all, not just clueless ex pro's on Sky.

Could well be right there. The brand of football would have been questioned though, but people would have just been happy with the points.

Also, not sure if he would have still managed to get some of these players to a desired standard though, and he would have had the same issues with investment as the current manager has had to deal with?

He got Barnsley into the playoffs.. I'm sure he'd have coped

What's any of that got to do with the thread?

From last season, Wilder has been gone. The board made a plan, appointed a manager and built a squad. A few months in, it looks bleak. Going back and blaming Wilder ignores all the decisions that have been made by others since then. Will you still be blaming Wilder next season n'all? When does it end?

If we've been lumbered with shite players, and our squad is shit, why did every pundit predict we'd finish top 3?

This squad should be much, much higher up the league.

Robbie Savage is a pundit
Kevin Gage is a pundit

Pundits are just ex-footballers who can speak.

The shakiness of the back four needs to go, that combined with the fragility of the midfield is killing us, and leaving us wide open to the counter and sucker punch goals.

Until the midfield is bolstered properly, the 3 centre halves need to return, for all they can bring defensively and offensively.
