A cup run this year

I’d love to see the ages of voters, I’ve got a feeling a lot more younger people won’t be bothered about a cup run compared to older people who’d actually give up promotion for a cup win

I think giving up promotion is a bit steep! Especially when we don’t need to. I’m 69 btw.
The FA Cup is still a bit special for me, at least while we are still in it anyway.

Even with all the hype surrounding them, they are still a non league team and they should be beaten on that score alone. The team we put out against Millwall was just fine, and they were probably more relaxed and enjoyed their football.
In the end it doesn’t matter about the result. It gives the manager a chance to rest and rotate players, with a week to recover before our next league game.
Never forget that winning, and momentum is a good thing. Enjoy it because we will be back to being under pressure for results after this FACup game.
As others have said, the money will come in handy right now.
I trust PH to pick a winning team and let them off the leash.
As a club we have been in much worse places than this. Enjoy it for what it is.

I don't know how we became so picky that the FA Cup became a hindrance to us.

If we all lived to be 500 years old the FA Cup will represent our only ever realistic chance of any success.

I'm with you Charlie ... the FA Cup has always been special for me (over my 60 plus years supporting the Blades - I'm 70 by the way). In that time our best run was obviously under funny little Nigel - the semi final against Hull ...

Same goes for other positions. I’d imagine we’ll see first team players who have been interchangeable throughout the season topped up with a few youths on the bench.

Hopefully we show our quality and then get a weak team at home to follow.

I’m only going to be ambivalent about the result, if the selected players don’t click, and we lose. I hope and believe we have a strong enough alternate X1 to win, but it doesn’t affect our main aim of promotion this season.

Go for it! Zero excuses at Wrexham. We have a week's rest until the next game. After that it gets more tricky. The dream is the final - something no Blade has seen for nigh on 100 years. We reached six finals when it was THE biggest thing to win in English football. Let's have another final. We are actually in one of the best positions we've been in to go for it in recent memory. Successful side used to winning games. A decent position in the pyramid. Not currently scraping an automatic position, play offs, or in the midst of a relegation scrap. Out of the League Cup. Players needing game time.

Wrexham beat Coventry at the Ricoh and haven't dropped a point at home all season.

No magic to me in getting a "run" and playing teams we could be playing anyway next season. There's effectively zero chance of us winning a cup and I don't take much glory out of causing an upset against a mid-table Prem side or something. If it happens then it'll be fun but I wouldn't want us to put much into it. Rest anyone who could do with it at the weekend and if we get through then great, but I wouldn't want to risk much for it.

I would always chooses a cup run, my dream is to see United win something, I would choose an FA Cup win over promotion every time. We go up and down regularly and its always exciting following United but non of us have ever seen United win anything of note. While we are at it, I actually class winning the championship as a huge thing it would be the biggest thing I've see us win as a Blade and I think this season is the best chance of that happening so far in my lifetime, trouble is Burnley are absolute fuckers and don't ever look like dropping points. Its the best run of form I ever remember but we still cant close the gap on them.

25 and up for the cup! Heart over head, because financially we deffo need to go up but winning a cup would be amazing. Think I ended up going to all our cup games last season in the league cup as we got lucky with home draws- nice little loyalty points booster as a bonus!

One of my worst memories of being a blade was when the pigs beat man utd in the league cup final. I was jealous and still am. How amazing for us to have a Sheridan like hero always associated with scoring the winning goal at wembley. it could have been much worse but for arsenal doing us a favour twice soon after.

My proudest moments and fondest memories watching the blades have been in the cup of one kind or other. Even now get goosebumps after Hull scored and the applause by our fans at Wembley, such a special day. Beating a decent Villa side 3-1 at BDTBL was a fantastic game, got my trip to Highbury that season and it ended on penalties in the replay and countless other memories. For us this is tie is a lose-lose although a good opportunity to mix the squad up, I would definitely like to think we will be resting a few though. Perfect time for a winter break.

We are on a great run in the league and have a chance of getting to the fifth round of the FA CUP.then getting one of the top clubs in the next round.
Keep the run going. of course, it won't be easy to beat Wrexham. if we got beat would you be embarrassed by losing to a non-league club?
I prefer to beat Wrexham and get one of the big clubs. if we lose I would not lose any sleep over it then.

I remember 1990. That was a good cup run with promotion. 6th round (robbed against Man U), with 800 games against Barnsley in the 5th round. Worth watching the United documentary for some of the fun and games at Oakwell (including the then record for number of bleeps and Bassett and Mr Ellery...).

I remember that Man U game (never a corner), but in my head I hadn’t got it in a the same season as the promotion. I tend to lean towards the ‘focus on the league’ view of cup games; and yet some of my best memories of watching matches with my kids (and before that with my mates) have been at cup games.
