Dear Steve

Thank you very much for your genuine leadership which you have bestowed upon the Championship with the sacking of Gareth Southgate who had the club one point off the top and nicely nestled in the Playoffs and the appointment of Gordon Strachen who seems to have the aptly named Middlesboro nicely in Mid-table dropping points left right and centre.

Your genuine leadership has aided many teams in the Championship in their quest for promotion this season.

I hope you had a nice Christmas and I wish you al the best in the new year.

Warm Regards

Santos.

Santos was at the Lane today, hanging around the car park. Did you see your namesake? :p

It's ok - Blackwell is doing well in his quest to keep the bottom teams up.

How bizarre?? So there is only 1 team who will be promoted this year?

Thank you Mike Ashley for making a decisive decision to get rid of Shearer and appoint Chris Hughton. Thank you WBA for taking decisive action appointing Di Matteo following the departure of Mowbray. Thank you Forest for dismissing the 'out of his depth' Calderwood and replacing him with Billy Davies.

Take note Mr McCabe, sometimes blind loyalty to a manager can be counter productive!!

Why would I write a thank you letter to Newcastle, WBA & Forest for making it harder for the Blades to go up this season?

Look out for the postie Mr Strafford, you could be receiving a thank you letter sooner rather than later.

Performing pretty badly if that's his goal. I think there are only two teams in the bottom eight that we've not taken maximum points from.

Waits for Robbie to correct my guessimate!!!

Because you implying Gibson is an arse for not showing blind loyalty to Southgate, as if all in our garden is rosey. You know like a snide who laughs at other kids mis-fortune on a school footy pitch, when they cant even get in the school team themselves.

Gibson took a decision, just like the other 3 i mentioned. Only time will tell whether it was the right one. By the way, i bet Birmingham are glad they have McLeish right now. What a shit decision that looked like a year or so ago!

By that logic we may as well stick with Blackwell. (i'd rather have someone else in btw)

Not at all. I am just thanking Steve for his genuine leadership in making our task easier this season, you are reading too much into this.

However, the three clubs you mentioned, aren't comparable to the decision Gibbo made. Forest were in the relegation zone last season, WBA had just lost a manager and Newcastle, well I don't think it is fair to compare any club to them!

It's a shame Gold Sullivan etc didn't listen to these experts ten months ago, we may have been in the Premiership now!

Also Mike Ashley didn't 'get rid' of shearer. He was always only on a short term contract.

I get myself in some right tangles when i think about Blackwell. I'm turning into a right 'fence sitter' these days lol.

My heart says, come on McCabe get somebody in to freshen things up, give them a bit of encouragement in the January transfer window and lets give it a right go!

Then my head says......we have no real money to spend...we are losing Killa and possibly others...we still have a terrible injury situation....

Blackwell knows the players and setup, perhaps its just too much of a gamble with this precarious position we are in as a club to change the manager too.

Verdict, stick with Blackie for the time being. Give him any money we generate in January to plug the gaps and perhaps try to pull another Jamie Ward out of the hat. If by late March\early April we are nowhere near the playoffs, then make plans to get rid and take our time bringing the right man in during the early summer months.

However, i reserve the right to sit on my comfy fence as i am just an anonymous internet poster and not a football club chairman ;)

Good post, I think I agree with that assessment, although not as strong on the bold bit.

Too drunk to check fully, but a quick look at the table - I 'think' we dropped points to Scunny, Coventry and Ipswich....

I might be thinking of another season though ha
