Well how about that? A third consecutive league win on the trot at Wimbledon on Saturday, something that we haven't achieved since last December when we had a nice little run and beat Coventry, Scunthorpe and Bradford!...If you are looking for a run of 4 consecutive league wins, then you need to look back to the beginning of last season when Adkins led us to 2 home and 2 away wins against Chesterfield, Peterborogh, Blackpool and Swindon during his honeymoon period......before being outed as shit (personal opinion of course).

So here we go in an attempt to match last seasons achievement of dizzy heights with a potential banana skin against a 6th placed, patchy Peterborough team who might be inconsistent of late but they definitely know where the back of the net is.

In the same fixture at the lane last season we lost 2-3. For those who can't remember it, it was that ridiculously frustrating game just after the new year in which we cam from behind twice, the second one in the 84th minute however Peterborough ran straight up the other end to score the winner.

The Opposition

For those wanting to use our last game against this lot to gauge an idea of who we need to look out for on Saturday, I wouldn't bother as on Saturday only 3 players who played against us last year started the game.

Peterborough are another club who have been quite active in the Summer and like us this started with a pretty large scale clear out as well as losing a key player in Jon Taylor to Rotherham United.

On the recruitment front it is safe to say that Peterborough have pretty much signed a new starting XI, the majority of which are raw, young players from around league one and two clubs with the exception of some top flight u21's on loan and a high quality loanee from Barnsley in George Moncur. A couple more notable signings being Hayden White and Ryan Tafazolli, both of which have been heavily linked with us on the past.

Anyway Peterborough now have an average squad age of 23 years of age with bags of pace in it.

Peterborough's Form So Far

Peterborough might be 6th in the table but truth be said they are only a draw better off than us and their form so far this season has been pretty hit and miss with a couple of decent wins but then also a couple of disappointing losses. On the road they have played three games and have managed to bag a couple of decent wins at Rochdale on the opening game of the season and MK Cons more recently.

We meet Peterborough on the back of three consecutive wins for us whilst they have drawn their last last two games at home, both of which being pegged back from winning positions and the last time out in particular must have been a bit of a sickener for them having gone in front on 84 minutes, only to concede with the last kick of the game to throw away 2 points.

I think the main thing that stands out like a sore thumb is that Peterborough are the leagues second highest goalscorers with 15 goals to their name already as well as 2 players on 4 goals a piece the same as our lad Billy... They also have plenty in midfield with the 2 wide men contributing 7 goals between them already this season and they already have 9 different goalscorers at the club this season, so again they have goals all over the shop!!!.....And as if they didn't have enough already they have now added George Moncur to the ranks and he bagged a brace on Saturday so again I say it, they are incredibly dangerous and can score for fun.

At the other end of the pitch though Peterborough have shown some defensive frailties having conceded 10 goals already this term. As I said above they have thrown away the last two games from winning positions so there is plenty of optimism for us and it promises to be a fairly open game.

In form players : Edwards & Nichols - 4 goals each.

Other notable players : Maddison - 3 goals, Moncur - 2 goals.

Betting:

Sheffield United
Evens Draw 5/2 Peterborough 9/4

We are the bookies favourites what with going into this on the back of 3 wins and having the better of recent form, it seems the common price for us hangs around the wrong side of even money however a good few bookies are offering us at even money.

It is no shock really to see odds of around 1/2 for both teams to score. We seem to have found our scoring boots recently and Peterborough obviously know where the net is.....Obviously both of us seem prone to conceding at least one as well, Wimbledon being a prime example of this again for us on Saturday.....So all in all a pretty safe bet but no value in it what so ever...

One particular bet that stands out for the wrong reasons is Peterborough to be winning at half time but for us to come from behind and go on to win the game which pays a decent 22/1...........Whilst we don't want this to happen....Well we haven't made things easy for ourselves of late have we and our opposition score goals!.....It wouldn't be too far fetched for this to happen surely?

Anyway there seems to be as equal a spread on the draw as there is on a Blades win.....Are they merely going on the oppositions 2 draws on the trot? It looks a fairly open game with goals in it that's for sure....And I don't think I fancy honours even myself.

That point about coming from behind to win is pretty solid. I wouldn't be surprised if we were 1-0 down at half time but ended up winning the game. They're patchy so far, which is a good sign for a team who've bagged 3 on the trot. I think we'll win: home advantage/better recent form/momentum/etc but that elusive clean sheet won't get chalked off. 2-1 to The Blades, Sharp with one and take your pick for't other one, we've got goals all over the park! Will be my first home game this season, end of May feels far too long to be the last time at BDTBL.

Yes it was Sammuelson with the winner last year,on loan from West Ham..I remember the little midfielder Oztumer playing well and scored aswell..Hopefully we can continue the run.

They may be 2nd highest scorers but we've out scored them over last 3 (7-6), and........

We've got Billy Sharp!

You know what's nice?

I'm looking forward to this one. I'm not filled with dread and it doesn't seem like a chore, as it did for most of the year under Adkins.

Bring the Posh bastards on!

Not one person has predicted a loss yet... This bodes well.

indeed they haven't - it's the Blade way...........

we could win 4 nil, we could equally lose 2 nil.

Think we will all see after about 15 minutes as it depends what formation he will play.

I would sacrifice a win for a clean sheet - think that is the next target for us being realistic. Hopefully nick 1 or 2 in the other end, but not conceding is the key for me.

We need to stop silly goals - that in itself will give us all that we want as the season goes on.

Really? you would rather get 1 point than 3 as long as kept a clean sheet? I would rather get 3 points every single game, I dont care if we conceed 11 as long as we score 12. Points in the back are a lot better than any intangible benefit like increased morale, confidence at the back etc.

We'll get there. The points are more important though and I'd rather concede 10, but score 11 if it means we get an extra 2.

Their midfielder Jermaine Anderson has done his knee ligaments and will be out for the season, that's a blow for them.

I think Chris Forrester's their main man in midfield though, I'm interested to get another look at him. Captain and playmaker.

Gwion Edwards seems to have made a real impact, Jack Baldwin's quite a highly rated CB, they've signed Paul Taylor back from Ipswich who's a lively forward, and Marcus Maddison is a threat, although I don't like him - selfish show pony.

There's no doubt they've got a lot of good players. But they're still nothing like consistent or solid, despite on paper having the players to be. Same old Peterborough really.

I'd take a draw from these, keep the unbeaten run going. I believe we can win this fixture though.

Great test for the players and hope the lane can get behind em. UTB

on a betting front.. BTTS United Win.

Want to see us win this one, two tough games coming up three or four points would be a decent return and a win on Saturday takes the pressure off for the tricky looking trip to Scunny.

Good betting call Fozzy....Not much value in it at 11/4 like....Could go in a bet with others but I personally try not to bet on United or the grunters haha.

I have had a cheeky bet though in this one and gone with my instinct....A £10 stake onus to come from behind and win at 7/1

Nailed on loss this one, we have started to play well and got our hopes up so its time for them to bring us crashing back down to earth

We're league 1 and we know we are

Just to update the betting market.......

Today's move has seen more money go in on the Draw therefore 50% of the final result market is now on the draw.

There's no might about it TGM.
They definitely are 6th in the table.
A quick glance at the league table would have confirmed that for you.
Great report, but please take the time to check all the facts next time please.

;)

I was meaning in the short term - perhaps P'boro and the game after.

We need the defence to be better - lets be right, the team should have scored 6 on saturday and we gifted them 2 - if we don't sort the defence out teams will suss us out very quickly and find our weak spots.
We can't afford a sloppy defence.

Feel like this is a really big game...

Can we get a win and do 4 in a row and really crack on or do we lose and bring back the memories of last year where we were never quite good or consistent enough to challenge.

Think we can score but need to improve defensively to stop them.
