When I was asked to write this, I was not sure how it would end up beginning...

Hang on, that's the unfinished best man's speech. This blog, and the return of Paul Alexander Coutts, is much more important. Impossible to do the moment justice but I do hope that it inspires at least one of you to shoehorn 'Couttsian' into your everyday vernacular, as I have shoehorned it into this blog like a fat foot in a small shoe.

"In the midst of the Couttsphoria, Enda Stevens (who deserves some credit for recent performances, but I’m sure he has a contract phone) curled in a cross with Couttsian whip. It hung in the air for just a second before Billy was at it again. A downward header this time went beyond the anti-Couttsian keeper for 0-2 Blades."

Great stuff

I've read these blogs before, and although good, never quite "got it". But this one is fantastic. Brilliantly highlighting the night, but also the complexities of the English language (almost on par with Ronnie Barker).

Particular favourites:

- who deserves some credit for recent performances, but I’m sure he has a contract phone
- hot chocolate mixed with coffee under my arm (don’t moch me!)
- Our defence HAD to be resolute, but they weren’t. They were O’Connell, Egan and Basham and that was enough.

I should have never doubted these blogs. Fantastic read.

You need to sit in the corner and think about what you’ve done for half hour I reckon.

In fairness, I can totally understand why you might not 'get' (perhaps enjoy is a more appropriate word) some of the other blogs which are plainly works of fiction inspired by Blade-related events. Sometimes I err on the side of balance and actually talk about the game..like this one. Glad you enjoyed it!

The highlights are up. I think they require alternative commentary Steve. :)

I've retired from producing alternative commentaries on the grounds of needing some time to do other things, like sauteing aubergines for a moussaka. If I find the time I may come up with shorter, Coutts-based production and might do a HMS Bash highlights reel come the end of the season. I have to say, I only started doing them to offer a slightly less grating offering than the sorts that other clubs seem to do. Just calling players Cwords and inbred etc..

You should write a book, or maybe a blog.

Great stuff. Prose of Couttsian standard coupled with the wit of Rodger Wylde.

I might take that advice you know. I wish I knew who Roger Wylde was.

*Unless you meant the Wednesday player, in which case, I wish I understood the reference.

Your best ever! Obviously brought about by the return of the Messiah. Brilliant.

Pinchy's surely 'avin a go at yer - Roger Wylde did indeed put on the crackling but the Pinchometer is rating your wit against the entity that was Oscar, I believe, which is probably a little unfair.
FWIW I thought your blog was excellent, Steve - and will look forward to any commentaries as and when they come out.

Ewood Park - used to be Wood Park but updated for the digital age :)

Yes, but it was light-hearted. I love Steve’s stuff and think he’s a real talent. I would buy his book, even write the foreword.

I'm only frustrated that I didn't get the jibe, which is a good 'un.

Money where your mouth is Pinchy - looking for contributors to our 2019 fanzine...there's a blank page with your name on it.

Oscar as in 'Foxtrot' which Pinchy is usually more familiar with.

I believe he was a writer in yer' stove pipe hat times but wasn't reet orthodox. He got sent to gaol for writing the 'Importance of being Ernest Bishop' or somesuch.

Quality stuff - the apprentice bows to the master :)

You're going to be really stuffed from now on - picking MoM has been easy for 11 months!

Haven’t got the 2018 one yet Steve. Just remind me of the outlet please?
