.... the demise of an old Blades favourite haunt 'The Mullberry Tavern'.
As of next weekend it will known as 'Affinity'....and yes..... as you've probably already guessed from that name ...it WILL be a gay bar.
Seems a bit of a strange location to me ...but hey ho ... what will be will be ....

After years and years of taking over pubs and bars wherever Blades fans have went, surely taking over a gay bar is achievable.

I would find it hilarious aswell, especially if hordes of gays were to enter to see loads of Blades boozing and singing.
"nah nah nah nah, eeza puff and eeza puff"

To paraphrase the late, great etcetera etcetera.

"Looks like we got ourselves a breeder."

Sounds like a job for the MBB.......

Not having a go but why is it a strange location ,where would be a 'sensible' location ? As far as I know gay bars don't stop straight people going in anyway. The Mulberry was a dump anyway ,only to be used on the way to grab-granny or Rock night at Roxys and on Saturday nights with an eye on the front door to see if the cakes or cleaners were about.

Does it have a more accessible back door now I wonder ?

I always thought it was a strange location for a pub, a bar makes much more sense.

Twenty-odd years ago the Mulberry was a shithole of the highest (or should that be lowest) order. Having had what seemed the princely sum of fuck-all spent on it over the years hasn't helped. Hopefully the new owners will have some success in running it, but I can't see anybody wanting to use it other than a step-off once again to whatever the Roxy is called this year.

I remember a load of Leeds scum turned the place over (and I think a lot of them got jail for it?) and I think it shut down soon after. Did it shut down because of that incident?

HB - not being funny here, and I've been out of the country for a while so you will have to allow me a daft question... but I have to ask... what is the difference between a pub and a bar?

Bars have some or all of: lots of people walking around drinking stella/grolsh/becks/etc from bottles, drink offers ("buy 2 bottles of some 9% head-ache inducing luminous blue liquid that will burn your insides out for £3"), loud music, a typically younger crowd, fruit machines, hour long queues at the bar for overpriced bottles of lager, chavs, random violence, students, DJs and bouncers.

Pubs have none of the above, proper beer and err, me.

It's "pouf" not "puff". Hello sailor, shut that door, I'm free. Why does it mean it's a Gay Bar 'cos it's called Affinity ? I think I should be told

Private widdell a forum member has already told me of his delight at the new bar opening. Since his old favourite the cossack shut he had to go dempseys.
He's not stopped talking about it during today's game.
