I'm never late at criticising them when I think it's deserved and I've been particularly critical of Clough recently. However, they deserve a lot of credit for today's performance. One down at the break, but they didn't buckle and by all accounts their victory was thoroughly deserved. (Take that Brizzle for fkin up the start of our season :))

Yes, well done lads, but more importantly keep that momentum going into the last third of the season

Sometimes, miracles can happen

Well said mate, and wise words. As you say, NC's taken stick, plenty of it to be honest, but today was a great result, and from all accounts thoroughly deserved UTB

Agreed, well done Clough, Done and the rest of the team.

It really is a shame a certain section of our fans overreact at every loss...it must surely make results like this harder for them to enjoy, as deep down I bet they're disappointed they have to contradict their moronic ramblings from the week before.

Despite watching football for years, I would have thought the idiots would have realized that over the course of the season there will be peaks and troughs.

Just a shame it works both ways, seems that after one great away win we are world beaters, how S6 massive like.

Yep, well done Blades.
Great result, now lets push on and have a reyt good go at it!

Far from it, I don't think we are world beaters, its just a cracking away win which outlines the potential we have. Also shows that Clough isn't a half bad manager with a good eye for a player.....but a week ago our fans were calling for his head and criticizing all his signings.

I do not retract any of my statements from last week, the week before or indeed from September onwards. Great result today and credit to the team for a deserved win.
However, it doesn't alter the fact that we have pissed away an automatic place by steadfastly refusing to sign a goalscorer until last week, poor team selections and with some diabolical performances, particularly at home in Oct/ Nov / Dec.

Fair enough but a week ago the team didn't turn up at Gillingham which has been our problem a lot this season

Where the hell is everyone? I've come to town assuming we were all going to get bladdered and I'm stood in pub on ny own while couples appear to be celebrating some bull shit. Let me know when you're on your way ffs

Not entirely true is it, we tried to sign O'Grady and the fella from Blackpool in the summer but they rejected....we then got O'Grady on loan but he got recalled - nothing we could do, and then when the transfer window opens we do sign a goalscorer as well as going back in for O'Grady. Not exactly refusing is it.

You cannot RELY on loan players because, as with COG, they can be recalled. You need to have your own players from the start of the season preferably, which we did not do. Its been the elephant in the room, together with miniature midfield, since September and is only just now being addressed. Too late unfortunately, for the automatic places.

What a fantastic win over Bristol City who have been excellent at home.
The Blades being the only team to win in the top six makes those three points even more valuable .!2 points out of second with two games in hand leaves the team in a good position. Today's result should be a real boost to the players confidence they just need get a win streak going .

I have called for Clough's head and I still stand by that, cause I do not believe he will get us promoted. I have said all season that our squad is more than capable of automatic but Clough's negative tactics have held us back.

Well done to the lads and Clough today and I hope they continue this good form and get promoted. Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to be wrong about Clough.

Why don't you wait until the end of the season and see which division we will be in next season before you come on here giving it the big'un?

How many of the thousands who turn up every week called for his head last week? My guess is about 20. And I'd guess you'd have found 5 who wanted him sacked after 2 weeks. You'd find a few thousand who believe in a fairy who rules over us, and about 500 who believe in Alien abductions. And Bedrock and Jon Bon who believe in everything :)

People have been very critical of late, and rightly so.

Ha ha "come on here giving it the big'un", hardly doing that am I.

Just highlighting a minority of our stupid fans over reactions. Even if we don't go up this year i'll still stand by Clough and would love to see him have another crack next year...why?..because I understand football, and that sometimes it takes more than 12 months to get it right, especially given the mess we were in when he came in and especially in the modern ear of transfer windows, and the answer isn't to demand a manager gets sacked if it isn't quite working. Fair enough, if we were lower mid table, losing in the 1st round of every cup and signing a load of crap, old, over the hill players, playing long ball football....but that's not the case is it.

We've shown we can play some good stuff, we've recruited some talented players, we have a good young squad, we've done amazing in the cups and we're in the play off places. The major thing that has let us down is a lack of a goalscorer, and I bet Clough would be the first one to admit that and wish they had got that right. I'm okay in letting him make the odd mistake, if he learns from it and if he's getting most things right. Long term he will be a very good manager for us.

It seems the only thing that would make some fans happy is if we were in the top 2 with someone banging in 20-30 goals a season....and that's pretty much the same thing every other team in the top half of every league in the country wants.

Clough and the club are getting a lot of things right, just needs a bit of patience.

2019 is one win and one day nearer.

Its a bit shit chipping away at the critics, when we are still facing playoff shit-and-piss when we have wasted so many needless points this season. You argument would hold water if you could explain being turned over by Barnsley at home, MK Dons home and away and last weeks Billy fucking Smarts Circus at the Priestfield. That's 12 points and there are others. Its not as though we have been unlucky. We just have failed to deliver and that is why we criticise.

Pleased for today's win. But after we amazed the cynics by coming back from the dead against Colchester we went to Swindon and were bummed dry and hard. I hope this impetus can be maintained.

The first part of my 'argument' is that fans should show some patience and rational thought towards a manager who has done a great job for us so far. Like you say, he is 12 points away from doing what anyone could ask...so he can't be that far off. The reason we are 12 points adrift are down to not signing a striker sooner and probably the odd mistake here and there, this happens in football, and no doubt Clough will learn from that and be better for it.

Again, as I've said a million times, it takes time to build something and get success. The only success we've had in the past 27 years have both coincided with giving a manager some time. If we give Clough time, he will bring success.

Finally the "critics" deserve all the stick they get, especially those few morons who were calling for Clough's head in recent weeks.

...oh and you asked me to explain why we lost to Barnsley, MK Dons and Gillingham. Pretty straight forward....in the Barnsley and MK Don's games we had the chances to win the games but didn't take them and narrowly lost 1-0 in all three games - definitely deserved something in all three games. Against Gillingham we were crap and didn't turn up. Those things happen in a season, and in the context of our season are definitely not reasons to call for the managers head.

But if we don't go up could we not lose a big portion of our better players and have to start from scratch? Then how would people/fans view cloughs achievements/job?

MK Dons and Barnsley (two decent sides) are not games to point to for dropping points. Drawing against average sides is.

Also, can people stop talking about signing a goalscorer as if it's a simple task. While a good striker helps a lot it wasn't the sole, or even main problem much of the time. Anyway, keep this momentum going and stop groaning at ball retention.

Get a decent striker in, and actually pick him.

Play fewer scrappy midgets.

Win games.

Pretty straightforward!

Great win Blades!

19th placed Barnsley are a decent side?
