I predicted a decent/ achievable finish to the season would be 95 points, so with our 2 points deduction that’s an incredible 97 points.
I was fairly confident Leeds and Burnley would draw a few dropping points and also end up around 95 points….thought it would be close between all 3.

My big fear was we might still end up being relegated on 95 points…..which would be freakishly bad luck…typical United
Especially if Leeds and Burnley ended up on 96 or 95 points, so basically we’d have been champions without the 2 points deduction.
Imagine the outcry from Blades….constantly blaming the Prince from stopping us being promoted….where as in reality the points deduction has had no effect.

But it looks like Burnley and Leeds are both going to finish on an incredible 100 points
So even if we had beaten Plymouth and Oxford…it still probably wouldn’t have been enough.

It would have been more devastating to finish on 97 or 98 points and miss out on the final day finishing 3rd….the highest 3rd placed team in EFL history.
Where as now…..the fans and more importantly the players….have taken stock of their achievement/ an excellent season ….cleared their heads ready to go again.

Where as our new rivals…..Sunderland, Coventry, Bristol City etc are all looking unconvincing low on confidence.

Relegated on 95 points? What have i missed?

If we’d had a reasonable finish to the season (say won 2 of the recent games we lost) as expected we’d now be on about 95 points but it would still be behind Leeds and Burnley.

No one expected those 2 to win all their remaining matches….
its ridiculous that if we kept winning all our matches the same way as those 2 then 100 points would be needed this season for promotion.

Yeah but where does the relegation come in? We’ve already had the 2 points deduction is there more to come ?

That would be taking bad luck to a whole new level!

Leeds fans thought they were unlucky last season gaining a freakishly high 90 points but still failing to finish in the top 2.

Looks like Leeds and Burnley will both finish on 100 points.
They both have a much better goal difference then us….imagine if we’d have won 3 of those recent defeats and also finished the season on 100 points.

That would be a record that would never be beaten again….a team to finish on 100 points (Wilder would say102 points)….yet finish 3rd in the table.

We had a 2 point deduction with a suspended 50 point deduction to take effect if we failed to win automatic promotion. So yes, even if we win the playoffs we will be relegated to L1.

Relegation? That would only be relevant if we’re struggling on about 50 points.

There’s no more points deduction to come. We initially negotiated and agreed a 4 point deduction with 2 points suspended.
So if we fail to pay clubs on time again…we are given an additional instant 2 point deduction….assume the period ends at the end of this season.

Maybe this is indicative of the wider problem with football? PL is light years ahead of the Championship so, to have any chance of staying up post promotion, you have to start building your squad early if you have the financial clout to do so. As a result, the Championship is mirroring the PL with 3 or 4 clubs way ahead of the rest of the league. The massive points haul of this years top 3 reflects that and it is likely to be the same next season

Glad the two point deduction didn't affect us, that would have been typical of United
But those 9 points lost against Oxford, Plymouth and Millwall were also typical bleeding United
