I predicted a decent/ achievable finish to the season would be 95 points, so with our 2 points deduction that’s an incredible 97 points.
I was fairly confident Leeds and Burnley would draw a few dropping points and also end up around 95 points….thought it would be close between all 3.
My big fear was we might still end up being relegated on 95 points…..which would be freakishly bad luck…typical United
Especially if Leeds and Burnley ended up on 96 or 95 points, so basically we’d have been champions without the 2 points deduction.
Imagine the outcry from Blades….constantly blaming the Prince from stopping us being promoted….where as in reality the points deduction has had no effect.
But it looks like Burnley and Leeds are both going to finish on an incredible 100 points
So even if we had beaten Plymouth and Oxford…it still probably wouldn’t have been enough.
It would have been more devastating to finish on 97 or 98 points and miss out on the final day finishing 3rd….the highest 3rd placed team in EFL history.
Where as now…..the fans and more importantly the players….have taken stock of their achievement/ an excellent season ….cleared their heads ready to go again.
Where as our new rivals…..Sunderland, Coventry, Bristol City etc are all looking unconvincing low on confidence.
