Whatever happened to cat C games?
Can remember the club saying they were to give people/families who can't normally afford it the chance to attend..

Think they went when we got promoted back to the Championship? It's sad that went quite frankly but then again there's lots I don't like now about this type of thing. Such as kits that are £47 and are only in for a season.

People moaning that £30 per match is too expensive, but still expect us to spend millions on new players.

Presumably we're getting a new money tree at the Lane for Christmas?

You sound like a Chairman not that far away now! ;) I get that ticket prices are needed to be at a price where it helps the budget but I think the club could help the fans a bit more. Like the Blackburn game as a Cat B game, just days after the Derby game at a Category A*.

The pricing structure has been shit tho season but wait until we get promoted?. Everton are playing Leicester on New Year’s Day and are charging £43 with kids half price!!. It’s not exactly a glam fixture??.
My point is prices could seriously be a hell of a lot worse.
Merry Christmas to everyone. UTB

Not a great justification that though: It is worse elsewhere so be thankful that we don't keep our ticket prices affordable for any of our matches except for some cup games.

For the three games over Christmas.

And people wonder why attendances are down this year. Talk about pricing the less fortunate out of games.

Remember the days of buy two get one free over Christmas? Or buy two for a discount?

I think that's a bargain. Not cheap flying back and forth from Kuwait 3 times never mind the match tickets.

We kept getting told that the fans money was pretty irrelevant and a drop in the ocean to what was needed to fund a club so why now do they charge over the top to watch a second tier game?

Back in the day we were told we needed to hit targets of 15,000, then 16,000, then 17,000 and so on to break even, we achieved them every season so why not when we are getting averages in the mid 20s do we persist to overcharge? There is serious problems at board level and has been for years, some of the problems suggest to me that we employ way too many people.

As a general point for what clubs charge for football, it's f***ing disgusting, especially the higher up the chain you go. The players don't need to be on the money they are on, and as Wizadry pointed out TV money makes gate money look a drop in the ocean. There's enough money swilling around at the top end of the game for fans to be charged top whack £20. They do it in Germany so why not here? Because they're a set of money grabbing bastards over here that's why.

I've just about packed in with away games this season as I consider the usual £30 a ticket for an away game too much. We're (football fans in general rather than United fans in particular) paying through the nose to see a lot of average footballers that certainly don't deserve the wages they're on. I for one am bailing out from this particular nut house.

Dear Mr McCabe, please reduce the admission prices by half, allow kids and oap’s to get in for £1. Whilst simultaneously improving the ground, removing the pillars from the kop etc. We also need a new proven striker, 20-30 goals a season please, not too old, or too young, about 25ish. oh an a midfielder or 2, and can you sign that Man U player in goal too.
Please don’t sell players to pay for this, and don’t charge the fans (see above) just stick your hand in your pocket and you pay for it.
If it goes well we’ll thank everyone from Sir Chris to the tea lady, if it goes wrong we’ll blame you, but don’t let that deter you
Thanks
Mr I. Rational

Am I missing something here, we're getting the crap prices and the player sales and the lack of investment are we not? Irrational indeed.

Prices have gone up; investment has gone down

Our owners have probably seen Chancers pricing and thought to piggy back it somewhat.
Personally I have no intention of renewing next year until the ownership issue is resolved. Obviously the protagonists won't give a crap about that but I do. Maybe others should too.

Wrong.

We are 'investing' more in wages than ever before but of course as we know, only transfer fees count as investment .

You may indeed be correct Isc but I see ‘investment’ as bringing a key player in that either makes us money or gets us promotion, not spending a stupid amount of money on wages that we don’t necessarily need to do, if you catch my drift. Let’s see what January brings.

Merry Xmas to you and yours too mate.

Or 3 quid and then 3.50 per game on the Kop, 1988 to 1990?
Indeed, I used to go down and only really had pocket money and a fiver for mowing grandma’s lawn as a resource and could easily go to games when I fancied. Sometimes they used to make me pay adult price too (think it might have gone up at 16 and I was a big 14/15 year old) and it was only four quid from £2.50 or £3. It basically meant I couldn’t get a programme.

Now if was a child I probably wouldn’t go unless daddy paid, who would be less inclined to as it’s a very expensive day out.

Anyone know how wages and picket prices compare with inflation?
I think in hindsight I was vastly overpaid on the lawn mowing :)

I'm talking about the losses: about 2 million last season, around 5 million ish the season before. The losses are unlikely to be that big this season with the Brooks, Evans, and Leonard sales either. Especially when compared to rival teams with similar ticket prices. Our wage bill is small comparatively. I'm well aware that wages count - which players of ours do you think are on top end championship money? Conclusion: low wage bill, and low transfer expenditure; sizeable ticket prices.Merry Christmas everyone.

Worse thing is that because there isn't the money in the Championship that there is in the Prem, away fans at our level are paying more than they are for Man U fans watching Arsenal etc! This is all because the PL won't allow the distribution of wealth down through the pyramid. There's something very familiar to this!

As you say, Germany on the other hand is able to run their game on a much more fair basis and they still have a top product to watch.
