There is a major variable missing from the equation that noone has mentioned .... Barnsely is shithole. It is Dingleland.

25 quid to freeze your tits off, watch a crap game in a tin can of a stadium, watch us lose, get slaughtered by those horrible fans, rsk getting decked and spend the afternoon in Barnsley; Fook that (now the shed is built) I would rather go to Meadowhall with our lass (and use the 25 quid to get the mistress a present)

Barnsley is actually always regarded quite highly by away fans as a ruddy good away day. One major plus is that the train and bus station is only a five minute walk from the ground.

I can think of loads more worse places to have to travel to.

The only person to come out of that affair with any credit was Hume. He's a good bloke, a useful footballer and totally undeserving of rubbish like that.

I met the bloke at PNE recently and couldn't fault him in person just as I couldn't when he got his head bashed in.

I still think he was over enthusiastically late in his challenge and came out worse off, but because of his injury the whole thing got blown out of proportion. But like many footballers who get injured, his comments blaming Morg's just fuelled what was already a situation wound up by Davey, Radio Sheffield and Barnsley politicians, I just thought he was a bit of a dick.

I also think he's highly overrated as a player.

My mistress cost me £409 back in late March and the Bar Steward as done the right dirty on me, she has literally withdrawn any reason for visiting her, in fact when I do all I seem to get is grief!!!

I also think he's highly overrated as a player.

I think he was probably badly advised by the likes of Davey (who wanted to deflect attention from his incompetence) and Cryne the crook (who wanted to get as much publicity as possible) but I did think he milked it for all it was worth and courted the media more than he should have.

He should have concentrated his efforts on the Barnsley medical staff who sent him home after the game.

The 'best' bit for me was when he made sure his head was completely clean shaven for the game at Oakwell so the Sky cameras could get a good view of his scar.

Been plenty of worse elbows gone unpunished before and since - think Jermaine Johnson's at the sty was a lot more vicious than Morgan's. The complications at the hospital made the Hume one a great story for the media though with a convenient 'nearly died' angle.

I'd sum it up as being wreckless play by Morgan (albeit without intent), and very very unfortunate for Hume, whom I saw as blameless.

He ran toward Morgan to challenge in a way you see a zillion times every game. Morgan's elbow was too high and Hume, being a shorty, got clobbered on the backswing. That's exactly as I see it.

From playing and watching footy I know elbows are raised when jumping and accidents do happen. But Morgan wasn't jumping - he seemed to be asserting his presence in a way that risked unnecessary contact. In no way a deliberate elbow to the head, but a lack of care which, I think, is not acceptable.

Funnily enough, I clattered a bloke with my arm the other week, but I was jumping for a high ball from a stationary position. Lifting my arm was a natural movement in jumping, while Morgan's arm seemed to be swung to protect the space around him - he wasn't trying to gain height.

Poor challenge but see far worse on Match of the Day most weekends. More scandalous was the lack of care shown by the Dingles in sending him home rather than taking him to hospital & the way they then milked the incident for all it was worth. Wouldn't expect anything else from the Dingles though. Horrible town, horrible club, horrible fans.

I was sat in the Dingles end and considering the incident happened at that part of the ground I'll bet that I was closer than any of you. It seemed like a nothing challenge and the home loonies I was sat amongst hardly reacted. All the furore was after the event. Totally disagree, Hume ran in for it just like Morgs did, Hume came off worse, no biggie, just unlucky he had a soft head.
